WasteNot is pleased to announce a 5 year extension of our municipal compost collection agreement with the !

Since 2023, WasteNot has been providing Lake Forest residents and businesses with convenient curbside compost collection services to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reliance on landfills.

The agreement extension builds upon a partnership that has led to over 400,000 pounds of waste being diverted with contributions from commercial locations like schools and City Hall in addition to hundreds of residents.

Composting just got easier in Woodstock!

We are excited to announce an expansion of our compost drop-off program in partnership with the .

Residents of Woodstock and surrounding areas are able to sign up to drop-off their compostable waste at this site behind the Blue Lotus Temple in Downtown Woodstock. Residents have made a huge impact with over 11,000 pounds of compostable waste diverted from landfills to date from this site.

Thank you to all of the WasteNot members that shared over 1,000 pounds of finished compost this week with - a remarkable organization that empowers refugee families in Albany Park!

Since 2012, Global Gardens has transformed an empty lot into a thriving urban garden, providing land, tools, and training for over 75 refugee growers.

WasteNot’s Community Garden Partner network allows our members to share finished compost with local nonprofits like Global Gardens. This nutrient-rich resource will help refugee families cultivate fresh & organic vegetables to provide supplemental income, food security, and economic opportunity.

The compost donated to Global Gardens has already been put to good use by the farmers on-site. We look forward to being back in the fall!
