We often have a terrible (for us, but good for you) habit of being too busy to take the time to raise prices. But alas, the day has come...

On Monday, March 16, prices for our handcrafted shoes will be going up by $50-$150, depending on style.

I know, I’m sorry! Justin and I make each pair by hand, from scratch, to your specifications. Typically custom handmade shoes start in the thousands due to how much time and skilled labor is involved. But we’re not great at business.

Also in order to produce our shoes more efficiently, we’re going back to our roots of interchangeability. So we’d like to introduce our new SHOE LOOPS

This ✨flair✨ for footwear is an easy way to change the look of your shoes without investing in a whole new pair.

We’re starting with our classic flowers, but will be expanding the garden to include 3D woven snakes, thorny spikes and glittering insects soon (plus more as we go - designing this shoe jewelry is so fun!)

Hiya! I’m Annie, the designer/maker behind this stuff. Here is our new snake accessory- like you, she is beautiful and versatile.

Alas not available on our website yet, but will be debuting on our Florida tour in February and on the web soon after. Coming up, we’re excited to show you all the ways to wear her, including with our forthcoming Ready to Wear sandals 🙌

So here’s what’s also on my mind today: I am a dual citizen with Iran, lived in Denmark for a year, and am a Chicago resident. All three places are under direct threat from the 🍊regime. Every place that is a home to me is a target.

I also grew up outside a small rural town. It’s difficult to see many of the “nice” people I was raised with supporting all this. Such salt in the wound.

I know many of you are mourning not just what’s happening in this country, but also feeling disappointed and disoriented by people who were important to you. It’s hard, there’s no way around it. That’s all. Hugs.

*regarding Iran, I strongly support the people in overthrowing the oppressive theocratic government, just wary of it being replaced by yet another regime that is not working in the interest of citizens. They need a government by the people and for the people (and so do we)

Last week, I was like, I’m going to post here more often. Just do it. Nothing too difficult, just post photos of the shoes we made for you over the last year, as well as some new stuff.

And then something horrific happens in the world, and it feels so weird to be “look at these shoes!”

To be honest, that is part of what’s prevented us from posting much in the past year. And this year, things are going to get much worse.

But I can’t keep remaining quiet out of respect for the gravity of current events. I’m just going to post photos of shoes, bags and our upcoming jewelry collection while also saying what I want to say.

I understand we all need breaks from the chaos to enjoy art and refuel. However there may be days when I simply can’t post without ranting. We are anti-ICE, anti-fascist, anti-🍊. We are pro-Bill of Rights and pro-LGBTQ+, with extra solidarity for the trans community.

If you don’t want to see that, either unfollow us or just look at the photos. But at the end of the day, we’re all in this together.

We’re diving into intricate details with our new designs 🐉 This style features a 3 dimensional woven dragon wrapping around our mini zipper bag to form the handle. Lots of math and prototypes were involved;)

We’re working hard on all sorts of new stuff for art fairs in 2026. In February, we’ll be in Florida; March and April, Alabama + Texas. Details to come!

Apologies for not posting in ages - in 2025, we launched a fine art collection in addition to our work at Mohop, and it took off (yay!). Justin and I spent much of last year just trying to keep up…

But many of you ordered one of a kind custom shoes at art fairs all over the country and I feel bad that I haven’t shared your lovely designs here. So I’m really going to try to post some of them over the coming months- I photographed almost every pair and the images are just sitting lonely on my phone 🥺

We’re alive! It’s been a couple months since we posted because it’s been extra busy around here.

I really have to apologize to those of you who’ve been waiting quite a while for your custom shoes. Basically, I messed up in estimating how long things will take for our May and early June orders. If you ordered during that time, your shoes are almost done! They should be heading out this coming week.

We pivoted our business a bit this year. From 2021-2024 we had a boutique in Chicago- but we realized we prefer traveling around the country and bringing our work to you at art fairs. Hitting the road and meeting so many interesting people is definitely our jam. However, it’s a new rhythm and I just didn’t do a great job of estimating production times with that in mind. On top of that, supply chain issues add an extra layer of unpredictability- most of our materials are made in the USA (wood, faux leather, buckles, etc). But there are some things that we haven’t been able to source here, such as our shoe glue that’s made in Germany. And when that’s running late in delivery, it throws off our whole order of operations as we use it in early steps of the process.

We REALLY appreciate your patience and look forward to finishing your shoes and getting them out to you!! In the meantime, here’s a few of our favorites from earlier in the year 💫

We had to fire our social media manager because we’re exhibiting at one of the most prestigious art fairs in the country , and she didn’t even make a post about it until today, the final day of the show. But we had to rehire her immediately because she’s me (shoemaker Annie), soooo…

In her/my defense, we’ve had an AMAZING time down in the warm beautiful South, and have been super duper busy traveling and preparing for shows. We’re looking forward to making lots of custom shoes when we get back to Northern Illinois on Tuesday!

You may know that we make all of our shoes from scratch in our workshop in Northern Illinois. Each pair is made to order with all your custom details AND we also offer returns and exchanges on *custom* stuff (unlike almost any other company!) Sometimes we make a mistake during production, or we find a piece of wood has a bit of natural discoloration after we carve into it. For all of these reasons, over time we end up with a small batch of extra shoes that need to find their forever home.

So for the first time since 2017, it’s time for another online sample sale! There is extremely limited stock, so if you see a pair you like in your size, you should grab them because they were probably meant to be yours. Make sure to check a half size up or down as well, many of our adjustable sandals have a bit of flexibility in fit.
