CHICAGO, WE JUST LOST A PIECE OF OUR HISTORY. 💔🐻⬇️

The city that gave us the legendary 1985 Bears. The coach who helped bring Chicago its unforgettable Super Bowl championship. The man who became known simply as DA COACH.

Today, Chicago says goodbye to one of its most iconic sports figures.

Mike Ditka has passed away at the age of 86. 🕊️

From his days as a Hall of Fame tight end to leading one of the greatest football teams ever assembled, Ditka represented a generation of Chicago football that will never be forgotten.

He was tough. He was passionate. He was unapologetically himself.

And whether you grew up watching the ’85 Bears or heard the stories from your parents and grandparents, you knew the name.

IRON MIKE. DA COACH. A CHICAGO LEGEND.👊🏼

Some people win championships.

Others become part of a city’s identity.

Mike Ditka did both.

Thank you for the memories, the championship, and the pride you brought to Chicago.🙏🏼

Before the roar of the crowd. Before the Bears. 🐻 Before nearly a century of Chicago memories… there was water. 🌊👀

Soldier Field rose along the shores of Lake Michigan, supported by thousands of wooden piles driven deep beneath the ground. 🪵

Piece by piece, Chicago built something that would outlive generations.🤲🏼

Nearly a century later, millions have walked through these gates. Championships. Heartbreak. Concerts. History. Memories that became part of our city.🫶🏼

We see a stadium.

But underneath it is another reminder of what Chicago has always done best:

Build something where there was once nothing. 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

From the lakefront to the skyline, this city was built to last.🏙️♥️

If I could sit beside that little kid from Chicago one more time… ♥️🏙️

I wouldn’t promise him an easy life.

I’d tell him he’ll lose people, face battles, experience heartbreak, make mistakes, and have days when he feels completely lost.

I’d tell him that somewhere along the way, life might make him forget the kid he used to be.

The one who dreamed without wondering if it was realistic.

The one who believed anything was possible before the world taught him otherwise.

But I’d remind him of one thing…

Don’t stop dreaming. Don’t stop believing. Don’t stop becoming.

Maybe you’re not where you thought you’d be by now.

Maybe life took you down roads you never planned to travel.

Maybe growing up isn’t about becoming everything you thought you’d be by now.

Maybe it’s about refusing to completely give up on the person you once dreamed of becoming.

So, to every dreamer in Chicago who feels behind, tired, or lost…

That kid is still in there.

Keep going for him.
Keep dreaming for her.
Keep becoming the person they always believed you could be. ♥️🏙️
