My first tetra pack carton and to print. It’s fun to know that Prince can be made so inexpensively, but it’s definitely on the fiddly side! I tend to like detail like in the leaves, but that’s exactly where the cardboard plate wants to peel away but for what it is, the prints are pretty decent.

My third layer for this Lino print is starting give recognizable detail to the scene!! What a confusing design I chose 😳🤪 Yep there are mistakes only I will notice and thankfully they don’t make the people look weird … like messing up a feature! Just forgot to carve a few highlights in the first layer 🤷🏼‍♀️

They carved plate for the third layer (last photo) shows some of the detail that will get carved away next.

A little magazine transfer with reverse painting and a little jazz! The background was textured first and unfortunately on not so great paper! Because it was all experimental… and now I like it 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ but it’s on j***y paper. …what to do to make it presentable?

This is a watercolor. I did many years ago and my husband brought it to my attention because he likes it! He says he likes it because it’s not a typical portrait which is why I did it in the first place lol. I thought it tells its own story. I thought I might re-create it as a lino cut… And feeling very daunted by that idea.😳🤪… perhaps in a couple of shades of gray and black… What do you think?

Woodsy Mushrooms collagraph. I used raw umber and colored pencils after to apply terra cotta to the caps.

The second photo is the plate made with Micaceous Iron Oxide and matte medium on a sealed cardboard.

The third photo is a print with no enhancement

One of the best Christmas presents this year is finding out that these two prints received best in show at the fall student art show at Yavapai College! And then I found out “More than just the Blues” lino print sold and “In the Pines” calligraphic print will hang in the presidents office for next semester!

It has been an exhausting semester, but this honor has definitely made it feel worth it.

Being creative is exhausting at the very least, and sometimes going through the riggers of producing the work and getting critiqued can be downright brutal! 🤣🤪 I have started calling CTSD! Critique traumatic stress disorder 😑😵‍💫😆

So it’s definitely time to take a break and bake bake bake and enjoy the holidays!

Some more playing with collagraph plates… this time I used only glue, and textured paint. And of course there’s the wood grain.

My latest collaborate exploration inspired by all the industrial textures of an aging and rusting painted metal building. The textures were achieved with tapes, textured paint, and gesso ….it was a tone of fun creating this plate!

I learned so much from a class I’m taking by and really appreciate the help from Yavapai College instructor
