Well… I think it’s probably time I popped back on here. ❤️
I know Ruby Idol has been quiet. Okay… REALLY quiet. 😂 And apparently, according to Facebook, quite a few of y’all have still been stopping by the page while I’ve been MIA, so I thought I owed my Ruby Idol girls a little life update.
First things first: I haven’t forgotten about Ruby Idol, and I definitely haven’t stopped loving it.
Life has just been FULL.
I’m still teaching, still being a wife and mom, and now I’m officially a marching band mom—which, as it turns out, is practically another full-time job. 😂
Ruby Web Marketing, my web design business, has also grown tremendously, and this year we were named a 2026 Best of Florida winner for Website Design Firms. I’m incredibly proud and grateful for how much that business has grown, but it has definitely kept me running!
Then this summer threw me a curveball I wasn’t expecting.
I was diagnosed with melanoma and had surgery to remove it. Thankfully, everything went well, but the recovery was definitely uncomfortable, and I now have a pretty wicked scar across my upper chest near my neck to show for it. I had a few other procedures along the way, too.
The GOOD news is that I’ve seen the oncologist, my bloodwork and everything came back good, and now I just have to stay on top of my dermatologist appointments every three months. And for that, I am incredibly thankful. ❤️
Greta has also had a very full plate with her own family and life, so somewhere between all of that, our crazy Facebook Lives just haven’t made their comeback. And if you were around for those Lives, you know “crazy” is probably putting it mildly. 😂
But here’s the thing…
I still LOVE Ruby Idol.
I love clothes. I love finding pieces that are cute, comfortable and actually wearable for real women with real lives. And one of my absolute favorite things has always been dressing and styling people—helping a woman put something on, feel good in it and realize just how beautiful she is.
That part of Ruby Idol has never gone away.
Ruby Idol has also continued to give me an opportunity to do something that’s very important to me—helping women and teenage girls in our community who need clothing. Even when this page has been quiet, Ruby Idol has still been able to serve a purpose beyond what’s happening on social media, and that means a lot to me.
So no, Ruby Idol didn’t stop mattering to me.
I just had to give myself permission for it to look a little different during a season when life got really, really full.
I may not be able to spend hours doing Facebook Lives the way Greta and I used to, and Ruby Idol may not look exactly like it did a few years ago. But different doesn’t mean gone.
I’ve actually been doing a lot of thinking about how to bring Ruby Idol back in a way that works with the life I have now—and still makes it fun for me AND for all of you.
Because after all this time, I can still pick up a top and immediately think…
“Yep. My Ruby Idol girls are going to LOVE this.” 😂❤️
