This one was a journey. A size 10 gown in need of a complete reconstruction. Picture 1 shows the internal structure of the dress taken down to about a size 4. The lace overlay had an all over pattern that was symmetrical along the front and back. All the proportions of this dress had to be re-worked to fit with the correct proportions. And , at what I hoped would be the final fitting it was still too big. At picture 14 you can see my hands pinching along the back center seam and zipper. I would go on to move that zipper, only to have the zipper slider pop off. A frantic search for a replacement zipper would yield a size #3 invisible zipper that could not hold up to the needed structure and finally a # 5 invisible zipper repurposed from another dress. I was sweating this one. The last picture shows a size 0 the bride took home next to the size 4. She looked amazing on pick up day and I was so happy to see this dress complete and with an absolutely perfect fit despite the challenges. The bride also needed a hem on her reception look. Can’t wait for pictures of that one on a mechanical bull. Stay tuned.
