Quilt haul day!

Today we was lucky enough to bring home SIX beautiful vintage quilts, and we couldn’t wait to share them with you!

Every quilt has its own story, and before we decide whether it will become a bag or stay just as it is, we spend time looking over every stitch, every pattern, and every little piece of its history. Now it’s laundry time.

The iced Cherry Vanilla Latte was absolutely AMAZING. Highly recommend grabbing one if you get the chance! Give them a follow to see where they’ll be popping up next.

It’s been a little quiet around here lately, but for good reason. Life has been full of changes, adventures, and new beginnings.

The biggest news? The Quilted Tale has moved! You can now find us on the 2nd floor at Cambria Station Antiques. While the 3rd floor will always hold a special place in our hearts, we’re excited for a brighter space where our quilts can truly shine.

Gracie has finished her freshman year and is spending the summer in North Carolina with family. Before long, she’ll be moving into her very first apartment—a milestone that’s both exciting and a little hard to believe.

That transition means our sewing room is slowly taking over her old bedroom. How we accumulated so much fabric, notions, and supplies in just a year is still a mystery! More on that adventure soon.

We also squeezed in an unforgettable trip to Ireland together. Sadly, no quilts came home with us (we simply didn’t have the room!), but the memories were worth every mile.

Thank you for sticking with us while we took a little pause. We’re excited to get back behind our sewing machines and can’t wait to share what comes next.

The bidding in the online auction ends on Friday March 27th at 5pm - so there’s plenty of time to see how you can support the music dept!

Today’s my birthday, so of course I celebrated the only way that makes sense… by starting a sewing project for myself. I pulled out some favorite quilt pieces and fabrics I’d been saving and started making a super cute sling bag.

Right as I was about to cut the lining, I noticed it… the old JoAnn’s label still on the daffodil fabric. It stopped me in my tracks and made me laugh a little.

Funny how a tiny fabric tag can hold so many memories. We still miss her every day.

It’s been a little quiet, but we’ve been busy behind the scenes.
This drop includes some new favorites—crossbody bags with adjustable straps, zipper pouches with embroidered pieces, and a long-prepped project finally finished: our demin tote bags with flower quilt square appliqué.

**Sometimes a quilt doesn’t lend itself to full bag panels, so we get creative. We do our best to use every bit of these well-loved textiles.

We popped back into New To Used in Buena Vista, VA to pick up a large steel book press for Old New River Books (stay tuned on that 👀), but you already know where we went next… straight to the shelves of vintage sewing machines.

We took this video a few weeks ago, and today we finally brought two of them home. They’ll live as colorful decorator pieces in our sewing room, and we am giddy about it.
