In junior high and high school every girl loves the idea of glam, but on the farm if you wanted glam you had to make it yourself. Glass pearls were a beginning step that led eventually into seed beads. Both had their difficulties for a self taught novice, however seed beads were by far the roughest experience and a bane to my existence. To put it simply, I hate seed beads. We might become better
friends, but I’m not holding my breath. My dislike of them comes from mainly my experiences in trying to sell them. Though I successfully made many things for myself, friends and family it never seemed successful on a public level and that was daunting. Fast forward a bit to college where the beading bug bit me again and creating jewelry and dreamcatchers was an outlet for some tenuous times. I found myself again in love with the idea, but with no guidance and being self-taught it was a struggle and was put on the back burner for a second time. Blessings and abundance of joy happened next, married, kids, and life. But always yearning to create to find my voice and a way to express myself. To supplement income I joined Mary Kay, great business training there. I attended bazaars to sell Mary Kay and was disappointed again in the response to public selling. I decided I needed to dress up my table and make it more shiny and sparkly. What better way to do so then to re-introduce myself to my ever constant passion of jewelry creation. As I stepped back into this joy I found that people were responding better and better to my jewelry, I was soon taking off! My jewelry sales outpaced my Mary Kay so I consolidated my efforts into my true passion. It provides and outlet for me to find myself and a joy in creating. I love the challenge of putting new ideas into reality or of re-vamping old ones into a new existence. My inspiration is life, history, and the yearning for people to feel unique and find their individuality in my jewelry and feel gorgeous while doing so. I love nature, fantasy, myths and legends they are all great inspiration. All things Celtic, Renaissance, and mystical are things I really enjoy. I think that symbols are a language of art and history that are beautiful and full of life. I love steampunk, for me it represents both the past and future and everything in between. My best days are when I get to homeschool my three kids in a world of make believe with tiaras, laughter and joy.
