Tragedy is never the end. They’re just new beginnings in disguise. 7 weeks ago, Nancy and I faced a seemingly impossible challenge of moving our entire shop of 10k+ items as the gallery flooded from torrential rain. Today, we completed the move and were able to open for the first time. I was able to feel normal for the first time in 7 weeks. I felt the warm embrace of my gallery, the warm embrace of my sacred space that we’ve created for our community, and it brought tears to my eyes. Thank you everyone who has supported us and lifted us up during these trials and tribulations of the last 7 weeks. We see you and you are forever part of our story. 🫶🏼🙏🏼💪🏼 Kim’s Photography in Mt Lookout. LASH BOUTIQUE SPA Dark Stallion Tattoo Crystalarium ✨ Crystals ✨ Jewelry The Gemeral Store Zip's Cafe

Available! Meckley’s Quarry, located near Mandata in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, is a classic American mineral locality particularly renowned for its beautiful celestine specimens. Established as a limestone quarry in 1936, the site works the laminated Tonoloway Limestone, whose ancient tidal-flat deposits contain cavities and fractures that provided ideal spaces for later mineral crystallization.

What draws us into these bite-sized specimens are the complete crystal habits of the celestine abd calcite. Collectors prize Meckley’s especially for its pale blue to nearly colorless tabular celestine crystals, which occurs within limestone cavities accompanied by white strontianite and calcite. The locality has produced specimens of sufficient quality to earn a reputation as one of Pennsylvania’s premier celestine localities; other minerals recorded from the quarry include fluorite, gypsum, and rare sphalerite. The combination of distinctive blue celestine, contrasting carbonate minerals, and a well-documented Pennsylvania provenance makes specimens from Meckley’s Quarry particularly appealing.

Simpsonite
Alto do Giz, near Equador, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil
Dimensions: 1.8 x 1.8 x 1.2 cm
Ex. Schortmann’s Minerals, pre-1960 label

Old locality nice yellow Simpsonite. Has contact points, reflected in price. What makes simpsonite notable is its tantalum content and rarity. Tantalum becomes concentrated in the very late stages of pegmatite crystallization. By the time conditions are right for simpsonite to form, the original magma has essentially undergone an extraordinary amount of chemical sorting. So even though simpsonite may not look as spectacular as a tourmaline or beryl, geologically it’s a marker of a very specialized environment.

Schortmann’s Minerals was a respected American mineral dealership operated by brothers Raymond and Alvin Schortmann in Easthampton, Massachusetts, from the 1930s into the 1970s. The brothers handled specimens from important localities and historic collections, and Schortmann labels remain recognizable provenance among collectors of vintage minerals. This specimen retains its original Schortmann’s Minerals label, connecting it directly to the mid-century American mineral trade.

Willemite, Franklinite
Franklin, New Jersey
Dimensions: 4 x 3.1 x 2.4 cm

Comes with original old tag.

A classic mineral association from Franklin, Sussex County, New Jersey, one of the most celebrated mineral localities in the United States. Pale green willemite is scattered throughout a bright carbonate matrix alongside an unusually dense population of black franklinite grains, producing a strongly contrasting, granular surface.

Franklin is famous for its exceptionally complex zinc-manganese-iron mineralization and extraordinary mineral diversity. Willemite and franklinite are two of its signature species, making their association particularly representative of the locality and desirable in a historic mineral collection.
