Knitin8bit

Knitin8bit I design and create unique, hand-crafted pieces inspired by video games, comics, anime, and all things nerdy. My name is Meagan and I like to make things!

I love to do all sorts of crafts, especially knitting and crochet, but I do all sorts of other things as well. This page is a gallery for all of my work, be it things I want to promote in order to sell, portfolios of some of my creations, or posts about some of my works in progress or inspiration for future items. I hope you'll enjoy the fruits of my work as much as I enjoy making them!

Broke out my blocking pins and foam mats for the first time in ages to also finally block out this scarf I also finished years ago... procrastinating is my middle name but hey, this scarf is going to have a new home soon.

New pattern time!

This one's a bit more lighthearted. "Calm it" was inspired by an old tumblr post, and honestly it still makes me giggle.

Sometimes, you just gotta calm down. But only a little.

Good morning, everyone!

I recently opened up commissions again to help cover medical costs, and got an amazing response. I'll be busy for the next few weeks, easily. 😆

To help keep better track of the influx of orders, I've made a board on Trello where I'll be keeping track of all my commissions. So if you wanna see what I'm currently working on or how many people are in line ahead of you, it's now pretty easy to find out. It's also helping me keep organized, which is great when you have so many projects to juggle!

If you have any questions about your orders, please don't hesitate to contact me and I'll be more than happy to work with you all. And yes, I'm still accepting new commissions, but I'm working on things on a first come, first served basis so it will likely be a while until I get to the newer ones. But I'll be posting regularly with updates about progress for projects!

Thanks again to all my amazing friends and patrons, and I hope you're all well. 💕

This board is for keeping track of all the commissions I currently have in progress. I'm doing them in the order that they were received and paid for, unless stated otherwise (like for lack of nece...

Another pattern up and ready!

It's been a bit of a delay (life gets crazy sometimes), but my cross stitch Pikachu sprite is now available for purchase. As usual, it's name-your-own-price, so consider sending a few bucks my way if you have the extra cash to share.

Enjoy!

This pattern is part of an ongoing series where I recreate the Pokemon sprites from Generation V in cross stitch form! The first group of patterns includes the starters - Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle - as well as Pikachu and Eevee.

Patterns for sale!

I've been going through my pattern backlog and finally started properly formatting some of the patterns I've been working on so that they're ready to publish. I have three new items - cross stitch patterns of the sprites for the Gen I Pokemon starters: Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle.

Tomorrow I'll also be posting a pattern for Pikachu, and hopefully Eevee! If there's another pokemon you'd like to see a pattern for, drop me a comment and I'll get to work on it!

To find all my cross stitch patterns, check out my Gumroad store here:

I love making nerdy, subversive, and fun things with thread and yarn. My patterns here are all name your own price. Follow me by the same name on instagram and facebook!

During this time of physical isolation, I have been working on more projects, just like many other crafters. I'm putting the finishing touches on some new patterns I'll have for sale, the first of which is titled "Not Your Friend".

This pattern was inspired by a lot of posts I've seen on social media lately, where people have shared the lack of compassion or understanding their landlords have had about delays in rent payments during an international crisis.

You might have civil or even amicable interactions with your landlord, but at the end of the day they aren't your friend. Friends help each other out in times of need, but a landlord is someone who is extracting money from you for a property they gain equity on and you have little control over. Their priority is much more likely to be money-related than looking out for you. And that's why we need things like rent/mortgage freezes and moratoriums on evictions right now.

I'm thinking about doing an alternate version with "Bosses" instead of "Landlords" as well.

By the way, all my patterns on gumroad are name-your-own-price. If you're short on cash because you recently got hours cut or lost your job because of the pandemic, you *absolutely* have my blessing to pay $0 for any of my patterns.

While I appreciate tips for them if you can afford it, I don't want anyone to feel guilty over wanting to do a project for fun but not being able to pay me right now. You can always send me a few extra dollars later on or pay more to purchase a future pattern. 💕

A pattern inspired by recent world events, but timeless in its applications.

Bad news: I had one skein of this nice alpaca yarn and thought it would make a good pair of fingerless gloves, but sadly I ran out of yarn a little short of being able to complete the pair.

Good news: when trying on the one completed glove, it was rather large on me, and I used the medium size of the pattern. So I can easily frog the whole thing and switch to the small size and I'll probably have just the right amount of yarn to do it!
