Wednesday evening always feels like Christmas Eve to me. Jill at & Company always shares a preview of what’s new at the schoolhouse. My booths are stocked and fluffed. I always have to enlarge a few pictures for more details and I also have to be careful of the weight of an object. The weight is one criteria the Mister is always concerned about. Nothing too heavy.

Today the Mister and I were going through 53 years of his painting supplies. Sorting. Organizing. Recycling. Some junk. Lots of memories. Lots of painting supplies; but, also some really off the wall stuff. For example, two very large sponges. Now I know that he used small sponges for many different purposes; but, these sponges were huge. I asked him and his response was for washing cars. I’m laughing as I write this; because, when I asked him when was the last time he washed a car he gave me the grin. In almost 40 years I have never witnessed a car being washed.

While we were working another contractor was nearby and I asked him and the Mister if they had a favorite tool. The Mister replied “the one I am using at the time” and the other guy showed me some small saw type thing with a small blade. Learn something new everyday.

While we were busy doing this I realized why the Mister never complains about my sewing room, fabric and yarn. I think we both have a lot of tools of our trades.

The best thing about sorting through all of the painting supplies was getting it out of drawers and onto shelves. I spent the winter labeling all my cabinets, shelves and baskets so I don’t have to play hide and seek anymore with my supplies.

The adventures continue and the group of ladies who are coming along on this adventure are able to see my vision. Soon all will be revealed. Hopefully; the last week in September we will be ready. Until then just a peek of our adventures so far.

Found my Joy today working with the Mister and hearing about his painting adventures.

Tuesday, September 1st, 2026

Today was a day I just needed to be creative. When I have too many thoughts, too many worries and too many distractions it’s nice to focus on something that brings me joy. Soothes my mind. Quiets the noise. Smooths out the sharp edges of the day.

I’m pretty amazed at myself that in a couple of days I have been able to work on two wreaths. The hard part will be deciding on the antique doilies, ribbons and bringing the wreath to life. Tomorrow will be the day to finish both of them. My hands and fingers are cramping and need a rest.

September has officially arrived and I will be keeping as busy as I possibly can to outrun the memories of my mother’s, Juanita death September 22nd, 1995. Grief never leaves us. The memories of the times of her cancer journey and final days of her life are always a little bit closer to the surface during the month of her death. 30+ years and there are times it feels like yesterday. I am grateful for the time I spent with her, the daily phone calls and the Friday evening shopping and dinner together.

While I was a child and lived at home our relationship was the usual mother daughter relationship. Good. Bad. Ugly. Kicking and screaming. Some how we made it through that and had a good relationship after I grew up and left home.

Her life lessons live with me every day. The most important one (I’ve shared many times with you). “You can’t live someone else’s life. Live your own. Worry about yourself and let others live theirs.
I’ve failed often and have had to remind myself to pause and think. Live my own life. She might have not graduated from high school; but, she had incredible wisdom and life experience that lives with me to this day. She was amazing and she was my mom.

Plans are continuing on this new adventure and what started with a few has turned into a group. I have no dates. I will let you get sneak peeks as we move along in the process.

The Mister has even came up with a few ideas. I think this adventure will give us the same purpose as our garden and flowers do. Everyone needs a purpose in life.

Speaking of the garden I am amazed that he really enjoys gardening and is actually upset on days we can’t garden due to the weather. We have our favorite jobs. I like the picking out flowers, digging and planting. He likes the mulching. I like to trim branches and he likes the clean up. He is starting to know the names of the plants and is excited when they are in full bloom.

He didn’t want me to cut too many flowers for my bouquets the other day. I felt a little bad, too. But, I want to see the beauty inside our home, too.

Tomorrow is another day for more adventures with the Mister. Gardening weather permitting. New adventure is always on the list.

Found Joy today making wreaths and YouTube gardening videos.

You know that saying, “If not now, when?” Have you ever been just going through your life and feeling like you could do more, be more and use what you have to expand your life and add more joy to your life?

I’m at that point. I’m in the very early stages of creating one of my biggest projects, dreams and adventures. I am Scared!! Will it work? Will I fail? Will others think it’s a good idea? If not now, when? I have to take the first step in order to know if I am capable of making this project my very best project, decision and goal. Am I scared? Yes.

But; here’s the part that is silencing the whispers of doubt that I hear in my head. I have the Mister and a great group of people who are saying, “yes”, “try it” and “you won’t know if you don’t do it”.

Now that you know I have an idea for a new project I need to say (before anyone jumps to conclusions) I am not leaving Revived & Company. That is my home. Being at Revived is a dream come true. Everyone needs a dream in their life. It gives us hope, something to look forward to, something to occupy our minds with a chance to experience something new and it adds excitement to our lives. It also adds some negativity that makes us doubt ourselves, uncertainty, undermines our ability and plays into our fears of not succeeding.

I am going to keep moving forward and keep dreaming.

A little sneak peek. A little gardening. Lots of hydrangeas. I will never have enough peonies and hydrangeas in my life.

Please; send me all of the good energy, vibes, wishes for my new adventure.

Thursday. August 27th,2026

A quick scroll on social media this morning shows me that I need creativity, cleaning, cooking, and purging to align my energy, mind and soul.

Some days I and maybe you too realize we only have so much space for the world and all of the heartache we are experiencing.

No need to relay any of the current events that break our hearts so I’m going to leave you with some positivity.

I read a woman is using WWDD
(What would Dolly do) as a way to make the world a better place. I am going to put this on my heart today and hope that others will do the same.

Take a moment (or hours) today to pause today and remember all of the hard days that you made it through. Maybe kicking and screaming; but, we made it.

Pause for a moment and think about our loved ones that we have lost and remember them and honor their lives. When there is great love there will be great grief and some days will be easier than others and some days we will just need to take time to heal from their loss.

Do something today that makes your heart feel good. Call family or friends. Hug your people. Have that cup coffee, tea or other drink of comfort. Read the book. Crank the music up loud. Watch the movie. Only you know what your heart wants and what you need.

Be creative. Write. Paint. Handwork. Gardening. Get your hands moving and your mind will start to feel better.

Being positive in a world full of heartbreak is not ignoring the problems you are facing in your day; but, positive thoughts will help you remember that days will get better.

Share some kindness. Spread that stuff around. Hold the door. Talk kindly to everyone you meet. Compliment others on their strengths.

I have a table full of treasures to get ready for Revived & Company and chai to enjoy.

Sending everyone a warm hello, you are going to have a good day, you are beautiful and blessed and I hope that you find peace and comfort today.

Later.

I have an idea.
I have an adventure I want to share with you soon.
I think (and hope) that it’s a good thing and that everything comes together.
I’m going to try to live out a little dream I had as a child when my sisters and I would play “store” with the Sears catalog.
I’m not leaving any adventures I am on now; but, adding more to my list of things that bring me joy.

Hopefully; mid September will be the day when you can join me on my new adventure with friends and family.

Just a little fluff this morning Revived & Company. Filled some shelves with practical items, a bit of whimsy, Stinkin cute and a touch of yesteryear.

It always amazes me how I pull things for my booths with no rhyme or reason and then when I start unpacking these odd little items that just fall into the perfect place. This morning was fun and I was moving quickly; because, I had appointments and errands to do.

Today was the first day back to school for my grands and my wish for them, their classmates and teachers is to have a safe and happy year.

With school starting I think the parents as well as the students worry about absolutely everything. I am hoping that the students realize that they are all doing their best, to show Grace to each other and to not bully or pick at other students.

Bullying seems so prevalent when school is in session and it is so easy to want to be part of a group even if the group is not being kind to others. I am guilty of this and ashamed that there were times I followed along to be part of a groups dynamics.

In today’s world it seems that people are more apt to put people down than to lift them up. I’m not sure of the quote but I have heard the saying that “people punch down and never punch up”. Meaning that unfortunately those who need more compassion and understanding are deemed not worthy of being shown Grace. But, those who people think are above them are never treated the same as those in need.

As you can tell; as a mother and grandma I never stop worrying about my children and grandchildren being accepted for who they are and how they feel about themselves. Being a child, teenager or young adult would be so hard for them.

I’ll say it this way “back in my day” we didn’t have to face what children are facing now. 24/7 news. Social media. Peer pressure Life at home that have changed drastically. Responsibilities. Jobs.
I never want to compare my life as a child, young adult or as a parent with those living their days now. The differences are mind boggling. As my mother always said “you can’t live someone else’s life”. I try and sometimes I fail. I’ll keep trying.

The Names
Florence Knapp

Just finished reading this book and I loved it in multiple ways and multiple reasons.

I have to admit I didn’t read the forward of the book first and just dove straight into the story.

First of all it’s about a mom, dad, daughter and son. I read two chapters and my head was not wrapping around the story. I read the forward and started again. Made much more sense; but, definitely brought me sadness and anger for the story. No doubt others will experience this book from a different perspective depending on one’s own family experience.

I made it through the parts concerning the father and enjoyed the story line that follows the mom, daughter and son through a span of years.

It’s a story about the young boy and the names he might have been named and his life moving forward with his name guiding or hindering his growth as a man.

It’s a book I had to set aside and think about for a while. It was also a book that I was making time to read and into the late hours of the night.

I found it to be a book that was thoughtful and one that made me question first names given freely or handed down through families. Names that are give one the freedom to be oneself or to be molded into someone else’s version of them.

Thanks to my niece, Christina for sharing this story with me.

Whistler by Ann Patchett is next on the list to be read.

Wintering by Katherine May is on audible.

No current pictures of treasures or our gardens.

It’s one week until school starts and the grandma taxi is going here, there and everywhere.

So far, Lilli has volleyball and softball. Jensen has football. Victoria has slow pitch. We are waiting for Bryson to tell us what he has chosen for his sport. Jayden has school and work.

The Mister continues to mulch the longest section of our yard. I am sewing, creating, cleaning, pricing and packing treasures with next week being a fluff to my booths. A last adventure with Jayden and Bryson this Friday.

Who knew being retired would be so busy. My monthly calendar is filled, my weekly calendar keeps getting things added to the mix.

I wish when I were younger and I had to wait for children, practice, doctors appointments and all those other times where I was irritated by waiting I would have looked at as a gift of time to myself.

I now have a car bag full of things to do, read, handwork or just a pen and paper. Time is a gift that so many of us don’t appreciate and we should welcome it as a time to just breathe.

With a full schedule I am facing a long planned adventure as been in the works for awhile. Alise, Elaine, Joyce and I are going to have a day away from our normal routine. I’m hoping we all find treasures, good times, new shops and a great lunch.

With our calendar filled, the rain and the hot temperatures our garden has gotten pretty wild. Hopefully; this weekend will be better and I will share more pics.

The Names is the current book I am reading is bringing all kinds of emotions and memories to the surface. Sometimes we just never know how a book will touch our hearts.

Found my Joy today in being useful and needed by my family.

I’m fueled by Starbucks Orange Cream Frappuccino with a chai latte with brown sugar and cinnamon chilling for later tonight.

Dining Table Designs by Debb B. 2nd edition. Sharing the before process that starts with a mess, a collection of treasures, cleaning and then pricing. After everything is to that point I’ll post finished designs.

Behind you might see some 70’s ripple design afghans in true 60/70’s colors. Two red rag rugs circa 1988, bought at Leitzinger’s Department Store and after 38 years still in very good shape. A few miscellaneous colors, too.

Display of high and low; because, we all love a few really good treasures mixed in with a few whimsical pieces. No one should be so serious about life and not add something that makes us smile. We all need a little bit of fun in our lives.

Monday, August 10th, 2026

A few days of rest, cooking, cleaning and finding calm in the house. The Mister had a busy weekend of a class 70th birthday get together (how is that possible) and a couple of days of the old timers league baseball games.

With him out of the house I was able to listen to my audio book while cooking and cleaning the 1st floor. I had tried the air pods and they were not comfortable. Those pictured are comfortable and I am excited to use them while gardening. I was listening to books on my phone; but, then I would walk away and miss a chapter or two.

Sharing some pictures I found on the web and they bring me comfort from the simplicity of the design and details.

I’m not sure if the Mister would go along with a little greenhouse or a little cottage made of recycled materials; but, I can dream and find some good ideas for our garden. I’m all about the rocking chairs, pillows and quilts.

The Mister and I are now officially grandparents of a licensed driver and I can’t wait to be driven around by Jayden. He was in charge of the pickup of dinner for their family and him and his PopPop had a couple servings of lasagna on the porch to make sure it was fit to eat.

My love language is cooking for my children and grands and their love is returned to me when I know they didn’t have to plan or cook anything after work.

I don’t miss the meal planning, shopping or deciding what is for dinner. I will cook multiple dishes in one day to freeze for later so I don’t have to cook every day.

Working on styling my dining room table for another preview before my found treasures go to my booths Revived & Company.

Found my Joy today creating with Lilli, hearing good news from Victoria and Jayden.
