My name is James Michael Maddison - my friends call me Michael. I wasn't always this talented - well at least not in a positive way - I grew up in Miami, FL in the early 70’s when Castro sent all of his “people” to America. It was a time when life on the streets wasn't all peaches and cream!! I made a lot of bad decisions and eventually found myself in a Texas prison and there I sat until 1999. Ho
wever, God makes good come from everything! During my "extended stay", I was allowed to work in the craft shops where I taught myself to be a Master Craftsman in Silver and Leather!! After my release I settled in Fredericksburg, Texas and continued to ply my craftman trade part-time as I became a high-power lineman for my “day job”. As time passed, I felt that Fredericksburg was becoming a suburb of California, so I headed out for “greener pastures”. I eventually made my way to Buffalo, Texas where I opened my shop in downtown on April 1, 2020. What a crazy time to open a new business with COVID wreaking havoc but I figured if God put me here, He must have a good reason. The folks around here are amazing!! Warm and welcoming and I am blessed to be able to make them some amazing and meaningful pieces - one-of-a-kind buckles and belts, purses (even ones in Axis hide), holsters, bible covers, gun cases, and so much more! I look forward to being here for a very, long time!! Since 1995, I have come to know many great lawmen and was selected to make buckles, belts, duty rigs, badges, and so much more for many Texas Rangers (men like Jon Aycock, Doyle Holdrige and Jay Foster), a bunch of State Troopers, Policeman, Sheriff's Deputies and other law enforcement all over Texas and the United States. I am honored to report that I continue to provide products to these groups to this day! About 70% of my work is for Law Enforcement. Kind of ironic when you consider my past! :-)
I have modernized my buckle production with the edition of a CNC Router and a fiber laser engraver (the parts are created and produced by Susan @ Appaloosa Buckles). This allows me to create intricate artwork and logos depicting anything you can imagine! This coupled with my one-of-a-kind Freehand, Freestyle Metal Engraving (inspired by my leather tooling) means that no matter how many buckles I make – no two are ever identical!! All the leather work is also done in my shop. I have two industrial sewing machines which allow me to create a wide variety of leather goods. The only items I don’t work on are boots or saddles – BUT don’t hesitate to ask because if I can’t help you - I have several resources that I can refer you to that can. So stop by and say “Hello” – I would love to meet you – as a small production shop I have to tend to business as well as produce the products so it is often easier for me to keep the door closed - but don't worry, since I live at the shop I am usually here - just ring the door bell or call for an appointment 254-447-3090 (anytime). NO REFUNDS ON CUSTOM ORDERS - Unfortunately there are no refunds on custom orders. However, if I make the mistake I must be given the opportunity to remake the item correctly or make an item of equal or greater value. WARRANTY - I stand behind all of our work!! All of the metal pieces created in my shop are made with SOLID materials - Sterling Silver, Gold, German Silver, Brass, Copper and Bronze. This means you can clean, polish and buff these pieces for years and they will never lose their color. I do not electroplate anything unless you request it (it can provide a cost savings). I warranty all of the work produced in my shop for the lifetime of the product - should a buckle ever break or need to be refurbished (re-painted) or re-polished - send it back to me and I will do my best to make it good as new (Most cleanings are free of charge but reasonable repair charges may apply). NOTE: Event buckles and other metal items produced by our vendor, Appoloosa Buckles, may or may not be plated - this production style is less expensive method and therefore is represented in the reduced price of these items. However, the lifetime defect warranty is still applicable should any of these items break or loose stones based on normal wear and tear. We will repair or replace at no cost to you. All leather goods are guaranteed to last the lifetime of the product based upon normal use (although wear and tear will impact that lifetime) - however, if something happens and you need it repaired or re-sized - send it to me and I will do my best to repair it, re-size it and/or refurbish the product to like new condition. (Reasonable repair charges may apply). All that said - I want to thank all my wonderful customers for the opportunity to create your very special items and look forward to taking great care of all of my customers - new and repeat - for years to come! Hope y’all have a very Blessed Day!!
