Penalty Box Confessions is a tribute to the game — to the early mornings, the bruises, the barns, the goalies, the grinders, the girls rewriting the rules, and everyone who’s ever fallen in love with this sport.

We don’t have enough music about hockey… so I took a run at it.

Today, we pause to remember the heroes of 9/11—the first responders who rushed into chaos when others were running to safety. They didn’t hesitate. They didn’t stop to ask questions. They acted, driven by a deep sense of duty, courage, and heart. Their sacrifice wasn’t just about saving lives—it was about uniting us in a moment when the world felt shattered.

In the face of overwhelming darkness, these men and women became symbols of hope. They showed us that even in our most difficult moments, we can find strength and love by standing together. Their actions remind us that we are stronger when we lean on one another, that unity is our greatest weapon against fear and division.

As we honor their bravery today, let’s not just remember their actions—let’s carry forward their spirit. Let’s be there for each other. Let’s rebuild our sense of community. We’ve seen enough division; it’s time to come together again. Get to know your neighbor, lend a hand, offer a kind word—because in the end, it’s the small moments of connection that keep us strong.

And to our local first responders, thank you. You continue to show up for our community day in and day out, with the same courage and heart that inspired a nation. We see you, we appreciate you, and we are grateful for your dedication.

We will never forget the heroes of that day. Let’s honor them by standing united, now and always.
