New Progressive Lenses? Give Yourself Time!
If youâve just picked up your first pair of progressive lenses, you might be wondering...
âIs this normal?â
The answer is: Yes!
Progressive lenses are designed to give you clear vision at distance, intermediate, and near, all in one lens. But unlike single vision lenses, they do require a short adjustment period while your brain and eyes learn where to find each viewing zone.
Expectation: âIâll put them on and everything will feel perfect instantly.â
Reality: Your brain needs a little time to adapt, and thatâs completely normal.
Here are a few tips to make the transition easier:
Wear your new glasses consistently.
Switching back and forth to your old pair can slow the adjustment process.
Move your head, not just your eyes
Progressive lenses have different viewing areas, so turning your head helps you naturally look through the correct part of the lens.
Point your nose toward what you want to see, especially when reading or using a computer.
When walking down stairs or stepping off curbs, lower your chin slightly and use the distance portion of your lenses until it becomes second nature.
Most people adjust within a few days to two weeks, though everyone adapts at their own pace.
Weâre here to help!
If something doesnât feel quite right, donât struggle through it. Sometimes a simple frame adjustment can make a big difference, and occasionally the prescription or lens
measurements may need to be checked.
Remember, progressive lenses are a learning experience, not an instant change. A little patience, consistent wear, and proper head movement go a long way toward comfortable, natural vision. Have questions? Stop by or give us a call,weâre always happy to help you see your best!
