Natural fabrics are having a major moment right now… but this shift is about more than aesthetics.

For years, the fashion industry leaned heavily on synthetic materials like polyester, nylon, and acrylic. These fabrics are made from petrochemicals (fossil fuels) and behave more like plastic than fabric. They can take hundreds of years to break down and release microplastics every time they’re washed.

That’s part of why so many people are turning back to natural fabrics like linen, cotton, silk, and bamboo.

These materials come from renewable sources, breathe better on the body, and often age beautifully over time instead of degrading into waste. When you start paying attention to fabric composition, you begin to realize how much of modern clothing is built for short-term wear rather than longevity.

Bamboo is a great example of how nuanced this conversation can be. The plant itself is incredibly sustainable, but many bamboo textiles are processed into viscose or rayon through chemical-heavy methods. Understanding how fabrics are made helps us make more informed choices when we shop.

This doesn’t mean eliminating synthetics entirely. It just means being more thoughtful about what we bring into our closets.

If you love vintage, western style, and helping people find pieces that make them feel amazing, this might be the perfect fit. We’re a small, creative shop looking for someone who enjoys working with customers, keeping the store looking sharp, and helping with our vintage.

This role is about 3 days a week, with Friday and Saturday availability required, plus one additional weekday helping with vintage organization, photographing pieces, and listing items online.
