Ladybird is growing! ❤️

We’ve been quietly adding lots of new goodies alongside all of our vintage - new clothing, claw clips, housewares, stickers, and all kinds of weird little things we love. And one of my favorite parts has been finding cool small businesses and makers from around the country to bring into the shop.

Yarnival
These $4 stickers come from a tiny Wisconsin business that’s been traveling the Midwest craft-show circuit for more than a decade, making colorful, clever, spunky stickers.

Lakhays Collection
Our super popular $22 luna moth + black cat cropped shirts come from a California company that’s been working with artisans in Nepal, India, Indonesia, and Thailand since 1998. Many of the artisans are women using their textile skills to support their families.

Golden Gems
Our $12 keychains + $30 hats come from this women-owned St. Louis company, founded by two sisters. Golden Gems started in 2016 and designs and develops its products in St. Louis.

Gardenbelle
Some of our really special clothing comes from this small-batch slow-fashion company - including $39 quilted skirts, $78 rainbow jackets, and $88 GIANT flowy pants. They work with sewing artisans in India, use sustainable materials, and their sewing team sets their own wages based on the time and skill involved in each piece.

HEX Botanicals
We have wooden botanical suncatchers + air-plant hangers for around $29–$45 from a floral and graphic designer who owns a brick-and-mortar plant shop in Grass Valley, California. She learned laser operation while working for an aviation company, then eventually brought that skill into her plant shop and began creating these pieces.

TheDivaSoap
Our colorful acetate claw clips come from this Sacramento-based small accessory brand. Their hair accessories are made to order in their own manufacturing facility.

We’re also stocking up on affordable dorm + apartment decor - paper lanterns, kantha quilts, hanging light fixtures, curtain rings, rugs, and more.

More clothes AND locally grown succulents are coming soon!

We also have new daytime shopping hours: Thursday + Friday after 1pm. Come wander around, shop the vintage and new stuff, grab a cold drink, and hang out in the cafe.

And on Friday nights, come hang out with us for a free DJ party! Shop, drink, dance, or just sit around and be social. ❤️

Yesterday was Autistic Pride Day. I was a little tied up trying to secure our future, but I didn't want to let it pass without saying this:

I am proudly Level 2 autistic.

I will do everything in my power to support neurodivergent people in our community. It means more to me than just about anything.

I need to share an update.

We had planned to begin alcohol service at Ladybird Trading Co. this weekend. Unfortunately, that launch is now on hold.

Over the past week, it has become clear that there are significant unresolved issues affecting our ability to operate Regulation in our space as intended. Until I know whether those issues can be resolved and whether we will be able to remain in this location long-term, I am not comfortable taking on additional expenses related to alcohol service, including the insurance and licensing costs required to move forward.

For now, tonight's sound baths will take place as scheduled.

However, Regulation's full programming launch for next week has also been delayed. We lost the opportunity to properly promote our opening week while trying to navigate these issues, and at this point I do not know whether we will be able to move forward with our planned schedule next week.

I know this is disappointing. It's disappointing for me too. Thank you for your patience while I work through a situation that developed very suddenly at a critical moment in our launch.

Hey everybody! Sorry for the late notice - I had to call in sick today because I broke my ankle after last week's sound bath sessions. It's been a thing to try and work around this week. I accidentally whacked it last night and I'm in a nauseating level of pain. I couldn't sit through our sessions today. :(

But we are moving ever-closer to our REAL (non-popup) grand opening. We're currently running behind getting the summer stock out because of the ankle situation. Huge apologies. We should have about 150 new pieces out in early June! Just in time for the launch of all the dance parties!

If you came in on First Friday and asked about scarves - they'll be coming in with the summer stuff. I am apparently not great at estimating how much work is left to open. 👀

We'll be open Friday-Sunday soon!! And seriously - keep your eyes open for those dance parties.

Hello, everyone! Ladybird will be closed today - we're switching our inventory over from winter to summer for this coming First Friday and building cabinets to house all the ✨snacks✨!

We'll be opening next weekend with some new OUTDOOR SEATING! And... some fledgling version of the cafe. It's happening. See you guys then! 💜

We are here this afternoon! If you find yourself walking up to the door and looking inside, wondering should I go in? YES - open the door and come in!! I know it looks a little forbidden.
