Let's walk through a typical work day for me.

It usually starts around 7 AM with coffee, then I'm off to the gym or do a workout at home. By 11 AM I'm tucked in to my sketch book drawing or painting motifs or designs. A quick lunch break before diving in to vectors and refining patterns and repeats in Illustrator until after 3 PM. You'll find me on my couch by 8 PM most evenings enjoying a movie or show with Todd while doing something fiber related. In this case it was drop spinning.

It's not an elaborate life, but I enjoy the relaxed pace my days are taking now. Chores and errands get thrown in where necessary, and I can take time for family when I need.

This isn't a big milestone, but it felt like progress this week: I finished a new mini collection!

Riggle E. Worm is having a birthday party, and youโ€™re invited! Friends have come from all over to help celebrate. Riggleโ€™s Birthday was inspired by memories of childhood parties. It's designed to feel fun, imaginative and whimsical. I can see it living on gift wrap, gift bags, party supplies, and quilting fabric. This mini collection is available in two colorways.

Available for licensing. PM me for details or reach out through my website.

The final two of my daily insect drawings - a grasshopper and a cricket. I know they're not everyone's thing, but I enjoyed drawing them. I did learn a lot and some of my techniques improved from the first to the last.

Thinking about making them in to a series of art prints - possibly even a pattern. I'll scan them all in and see what comes out!

What part of the creative process do you actually enjoy the most (be honest!)?
- coming up with the idea
- sketching/building motifs
- putting the repeat together
-refining and finishing
For me it's the sketching and building the motifs...and coming up with the ideas is often the hardest part.

Progress check-in on my daily insect drawings! I'm nearly done with the book (it wasn't that thorough or big). There are only a few left to do.

Since my last post I've drawn a woolly worm caterpillar, a centipede, a leaf insect, a tarantula, a katydid, a praying mantis, an orb weaver spider, an ant, a roly-poly bug, and a walking stick.

I'm learning and trying to improve with each one. Everyone else does kitties, puppies and such. This felt like more of a challenge. I've got something more traditional on deck for my next daily drawing challenge. Any guesses?

Here's a snapshot of what my camera roll looks like right now.

My back porch gardens are in full bloom with herbs and perennials ๐Ÿ˜ Poppies, lavender, lemon balm, and flowers. The riot of colors and smells is amazing and inspiring!

We took a trip to the Shenango River Reservoir last week. Camping, kayaking and relaxing. Being on the water always feels like a mental reset for me. It clears my head and helps me focus. I even got a bit of knitting in.

I wanted to see how far this pattern could stretch. Same design, but I mocked it up on fabric, a phone case, a throw pillow, curtains and wall paper...and now I can't decide where it belongs. What do you think? Help me choose in the comments below.

Time for a check-in on my daily insect drawing progress! Since my last post I've done a Monarch butterfly, a hummingbird moth, house fly, firefly, cyclommatus beetle, rainbow scarab beetle and daddy long legs.
They may not all be my favorite or best drawings, but I'm learning with each one.
