🌈 I got a voicemail left by someone I’ve never met before. He had seen my crochet class sign at the local grocery store and reached out to me because of it. This man’s adult daughter had passed away from a bad infection with a crochet project uncompleted. He wondered if I could finish it for him. She had already finished a little over half of the required granny squares. Happily, I accepted! All my other projects are going to take a pause while I get this gift finished. I am so grateful to be able to use my skills to bless others and to have the time to do so. I’ll keep you updated on my progress!

*cheesy salesman voice* Do you have stairs? Do you put stuff on the stairs in an effort to help your kids tidy up after themselves? Do those same kids ignore those piles and walk past them? Well, I’m about to show you a new parent hack that you simply must try!

*coughs back to my normal voice* Assigning a step to each of my kids with a vinyl letter sticker has been a game changer. This picture is an example of when I’ve put their items on their step. Most of the day, it does stay clean because they see what they’re accountable for. We’re still working on it with our two year-old but when my husband or I sing, “Don’t go up with empty hands!”, they know exactly what that means. It’s pretty awesome.

Here’s a little peek into what I’ve been doing to keep the kids motivated to do their chores for the summer. I created a little Summer Rewards chart for checking off when they’ve completed their daily chores. When they’ve done 14 days in a row, they get to do a blind pick (blind pick bru-ha-ha!) into my box full of Yoto cards. I’ve been stalking sale pages and stock-piling Yoto cards for months. For extra fun, every time they complete an “Up for Grabs” chore, there’s a chance to spin for an extra Yoto card. It is a variable Yes or No spinning wheel on my phone and the majority of the time the answer will be No. When they get a Yes, they get so excited! It really keeps them motivated to do more “Up for Grabs” chores. When this is all said and done, they will, of course, have more Yoto cards but they will also earn the ultimate prize of making tie-dye shirts together before school starts again. We are in no way perfect at this, but it is working better than I had hoped.

My jean quilt is so loved that it has started to fall apart in some areas. It did make it 10 years ago so I know I’m pretty lucky that it only has two spots of damage. But with us taking it to baseball games it’s reasonably been getting dirty because of kids with after game snacks. Before I could wash it, I had to patch up the holes. Now she’s as good as new. I love the spiral design and colorful backing on it!

Here are the 3D printed crochet tools I’m selling at Lewiston’s 4th of July Celebration. Some sold well last year so I reprinted them and I also found other items I thought crafters might like. I’ll have yarn bowls, yarn spinners, yarn wristlet holders, stitch markers, safety eye pliers, stitch counters (NEW), and tape measure winders (NEW).

If only yarn winding was this fast, haha! Thank the heavens for Stanwood Brands and their tools to help make measuring yardage a piece of cake, literally. I used their Yarn Counter Yardage Meter and their 10oz. Metal Yarn Ball Winder to cake the right amount of yarn for my kits. Also, you’re welcome for a little ASMR!
