So this 🐿 came and stole a persimmon off my tree, proceeded to drop it in the treehouse then had the audacity to dash away.
for a moment: it’s so funny that I’m revisiting not just one but 2-3 career and work paths I started back when I was 5. I never thought I’d ever want to touch the veterinary field after a hellish time in college right after high school. Being undiagnosed for ADHD for SO many years led me to a lot of questionable decision making, that still haunt me to this day sometimes. I am still undiagnosed, but knowing this is a possibility made me change how I pretty much do everything in my life. This comes with SO MUCH accountability, reflection, and just the absolute belief in that while certain things are out of my control, I can take control of the ones I can. Knowing I have that power gives me confidence. When I started my RVT program, I struggled with thinking how are my ADHD habits going to f**k me over again? Especially since we moved back into a remote setting? I finished out last semester with a 3.75 GPA, and got my first ever A in a chemistry class, something I’d never achieved before at both the college and high school level!
I have no advice on how to achieve this, other than finding out what works for yourself. I take plenty of breaks, which brings me to my other two paths Im wishing to take creatively: performing and writing. I realized I have to have creative outlets, I’ve been this way since I can remember. I flourished when I was doing so and realized this was what was missing the first time I went to college. I stopped singing, dancing, acting, and focused primarily on my studies and working part time in retail, it ended up badly.
Not saying that you shouldn’t focus on your studies or job, but there’s so much more to life. There are people from my past who ignited my rediscovery of the things I’ve once loved. They know who they are and are the best hype people. I’m still finding a bit of that balance, but I’m working on a book of poems and a novel I started based on an essay I wrote for my English class last semester. Speaking of, this is an west in itself, ha! If you’ve read this, I commend you. ♥️
