I had the honor of making this little dude a uniform from one of his moms’ uniforms, from her time in the service! How stinking cute is he?!?!🥰

For context, his great grandmother made a uniform from his great grandfather's uniform (also including photos of him in that (the khaki one) that all the babies in the family wear to get their photo taken, at about the same age. his parents wanted to start the same tradition using one of his moms’uniform

Good morning! I hope everyone is surviving for what seems like the 1000’s of days that we have been in staying at home! I haven’t posted in a while, I have been weirdly uninspired, during this time....I have two coats in partial stages of completion.....anyone else feeling this lack of inspiratation? Another group that I belong to issued a challenge, and that got me going.....here is the result. But then I realized that I misread the instructions (I thought you were supposed to sew an random project out of materials that you had laying around, but then realized that the moderator was pulling a random project topic out of a hat later, and I missed that). Anyway.....I made this backpack using parts of a drop cloth from another project, suede from a thrifted coat, decorator fabric leftovers, linen and muslin scraps. The triangles at the bottom are from the coat collar, the pocket on the outside is from the coat and the pockets on the inside were from the inside of the coat. I stamped the decorative pieces on the outside on linen and muslin (the dark muslin that the watch is stamped on is from white muslin cloth that my husband and friend use to filter apple cider, made in an antique press that was my husbands grandparents).....the dark color is dye from from the apples.

So....even though I misunderstood the instructions for the challenge, I am grateful for it, as it got my creative juices flowing! I did make slippers for the ACTUAL challenge, I will post them on another day!
