Thai Nguyen Atelier

Thai Nguyen is a Vietnamese-American fashion designer best known for his Eastern fusion custom hand-made designs. Back in South Vietnam, where Thai was born, his parents owned a private sewing school. Whether it was the influence of his surroundings or not, at the age of nine, Thai learned how to sew and realized that he had a passion for fashion. Knowing the high stress and demands of the fashion

industry, his parents had hopes of him choosing a different career path, but Thai continued to pursue his childhood dream. Thai started his career in California after graduating from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in 2002 as the associate designer for BCBG Max Azria. In order to fulfill his love of the arts and have the creative freedom he desired, Thai left that position in 2004 and began creating custom designs for prominent Vietnamese concert productions and artists internationally. Since then, Thai’s collaborations included being the fashion designer/contributor with the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, RuPaul’s Drag Race, and a finalist on Bravo’s TV show Launch My Line. Soon, Thai’s designs graced the red carpet at the Oscars and Grammy Awards while appearing in countless editorial magazines like Vogue Italia, Audrey, and Zooey with celebrities like Kristen Bell, Jamie Chung, Jenna Ushkowitz, Ruth Livier, Brandi Glanville, and Crystal Harris all adorned in his creations. Currently, Thai lives and works in Orange County where he and his business partner, Helen Nguyen, established the Thai Nguyen Couture showroom and storefront offering custom-made apparel since its opening in 2008.
