Today, as we mark the 21st anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, I find it important to share these photos as it’s part of my story and part of the Hazel Lane story. For those of you that don’t know I’m not from Covington. I grew up in Violet, LA (otherwise known as God‘s country lol). Renee is married to my cousin Tyler, so we always had a relationship via that, but it wasn’t until after Katrina that we became closer. I lived with Tyler for a short period of time after that because it was my last semester at UNO & we were in limbo with housing and such. If you’ve ever had to deal with insurance and FEMA, you know what I’m talking about. A few months later, as a family, we decided to move to Covington and lay down our roots. Eric and I got engaged and married and a few years later and Renee and Tyler built the house next-door to us and the rest is history. I will forever be grateful for this beast of a storm as it put me where I am today. Who knows where any of us would be if it wasn’t for Katrina.
