The Story Behind Flossy Mae's
Every small business has a story. Some begin with a business plan.
Some begin with a dream. Mine began with a nickname.
When I was a very little girl, my Uncle Dan lovingly called me Flossy Mae. It wasn't my given name, and it wasn't a nickname that everyone used. It was simply a special name for me—a name that always made me smile.
Some of my happiest childhood memories were the visits to my Uncle Dan and Aunt Geraldine's home. It was a special place where our family gathered, where laughter came easily, and where I always felt loved. Like so many childhood memories, I didn't realize then how much those moments would mean to me later in life.
As the years passed, life became busy. School, work, family, and careers filled the days, but the memories of those visits—and that little nickname—never left my heart.
When the time came to open the boutique, I wanted a name that meant something. Not something chosen because it sounded fashionable, but something that carried a piece of my family's story.
That's how Flossy Mae's came to be.
This boutique is about more than clothing, jewelry, gifts, and home décor. It's about creating the same feeling I remember from those visits as a little girl—a place where people feel welcome, where friends become family, and where everyone is greeted with kindness.
Growing up in a small Texas town taught me the importance of community, hospitality, and treating people like neighbors. Those values are at the heart of everything we do at Flossy Mae's.
Every time you see our name, I hope you'll know that it represents more than a business. It represents family, treasured memories, and a little girl who was lovingly called Flossy Mae by her uncle.
Today, that nickname hangs above the front door of a dream that has become a reality.
