I've had a few shops around southern Colorado reach out about carrying my work, and honestly, I love the idea. I think it's a great way for local shops and local artists to support each other and help small businesses grow.
That being said, I've also learned that it doesn't always go as planned. At my last consignment location, I unfortunately went months without being paid, and it taught me to be a lot more careful.
I'm definitely not against consigning my work. If the shop owner is honest, communicates well, and we have a clear agreement, I'm always open to the opportunity. I just wanted to share my experience in case it helps another artist. If you're thinking about consigning your work, do your research, ask questions, and make sure everyone is on the same page before handing over your pieces. β€οΈ Supporting one another is important, but so is protecting your hard work.
