Green Roost A boutique with a conscience. Since 2009. Our mission was a simple one: providing Culpeper with a unique gift shop, that specializes in kind-to-the-earth gifts.

Green Roost, located at 141 East Davis Street in the heart of Historic Downtown Culpeper, is more than just a gift shop. We began as the brainchild of local entrepreneur Sharon Clark, and when we started this little adventure, we had no idea quite how big we would get. We aimed to prove to the community that you could make socially-conscious choices in your gift buying, and not sacrifice style or

quality. Since our first location, which was just under 250 square-feet, to our new home, measuring in around ten times that size, we’ve grown in more ways than one. Green Roost is now owned and operated by Sharon’s niece, Kelsey Carlson. With Kelsey at the helm, we outgrew our little “nest” and found our place in the “roost”, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Our small gift shop has added clothing, bedding and furniture, and we expand our product lines every day. The goods we sell are handpicked and carefully thought out with our customers in mind. We aim to keep items unique, on-trend, and most importantly, earth-friendly. We hope you’ll stop by soon to see what’s new and say hi. We don’t normally open on the Fourth, but downtown Culpeper is one of my favorite places to be that day. Come shop, stroll the car show, check out the vendors, grab lunch, and enjoy everything our little town has going on before the evening festivities.

When it rains… it pours. Literally. And apparently… so do the shipments. 😂

If you’ve noticed I’ve been a little quieter around here (and yes…there have been fewer dancing videos lately), this is why.

Every day has been a blur of unloading trucks, entering inventory, pricing products, unpacking boxes, merchandising shelves, and trying to stay one step ahead of the UPS driver.

This is honestly one of my favorite parts of owning Green Roost. Market is where I dream it all up…but this is where it starts to come to life. Every box feels a little like Christmas morning.

It’s messy. It’s chaotic. It’s exciting. And yes…sometimes it happens in the pouring rain.

I promise I’m almost caught up, and I can’t wait to start showing you everything that’s been arriving. Trust me…it’s been worth the wait.

Hey there… it’s been a while since I properly introduced myself.

I’m Kelsey… the face behind a few businesses you may have stumbled across.

The first is Green Roost, my little boutique in downtown Culpeper. We fill it with beautiful things that tell meaningful stories… products from brands that give back, makers doing good in the world, and pieces that make everyday life feel just a little more special.

Then there’s AWAREties (AWAREties | hair ties that give back )… my newest (and probably craziest) idea. They’re simple black hair ties with colorful stripes that each represent a different cause. Every pack gives back because I wanted to prove that even something as ordinary as a hair tie could make a difference.

And while it’s been a little quieter publicly, Retail Rituals (Retail Rituals - Small Town Retailer Coaching ) is still very much alive. I’ve been working behind the scenes helping retailers build stronger, healthier businesses. Small retail has my heart, and I love getting to cheer on other shop owners.

Outside of work, I’m married to Chris (who puts up with all my crazy ideas), mom to two wild boys (5 & 7) who keep life wonderfully chaotic, a Disney lover, a fan of bougie hotels and really good food, and someone who’s happiest cooking dinner with music playing in the background.

Most of all, I believe business can be a force for good. I believe shopping small changes communities. I believe kindness compounds. And I believe success means leaving people a little better than you found them.

Whether you’ve been here for years or just found me yesterday… welcome. I’m really glad you’re here.
