Dear Alabamians,
Please do not fall for this manufactured crisis.
I urge you to take a close look at SB132. This bill is not about protecting children—it’s about controlling the h**p industry and eliminating competition for big alcohol and medical cannabis interests.
*Unchecked Government Power & Warrantless Search and Seizure
This bill grants the state sweeping authority to skip due process, allowing warrantless searches and product seizures at any time. What other industry is subject to such extreme overreach? Why does h**p warrant more aggressive enforcement than alcohol or to***co—both of which are directly responsible for thousands of deaths?
*No Economic Impact Study Has Been Done
Legislators have failed to conduct an economic impact assessment to understand how this bill will devastate Alabama’s small businesses. If passed, SB132 will force dozens, if not hundreds, of independent retailers, distributors, and manufacturers out of business overnight—costing jobs and eliminating millions in revenue from the state economy.
* No Data on the "Children" They Keep Referencing
SB132’s supporters claim this bill is needed to "protect the children," but where is the data?
*How many minors have been harmed by legally purchased, tested h**p products in Alabama?
What percentage of underage use is actually occurring?
How does this compare to alcohol, to***co, or prescription drugs, all of which remain readily available?
The reality is there is no evidence-based justification for this bill. If lawmakers were genuinely concerned about children's health, they would start by testing our food supply for pesticides—considering cancer is the second-leading cause of death in Alabama.
*Forced One-Sided Contracts That No Smart Business Owner Would Accept
SB132 forces h**p businesses into unfair, monopolistic agreements with wholesalers that no sane business owner would agree to voluntarily.
Suppliers cannot negotiate better deals or exit contracts without financial penalties.
If a wholesaler underperforms, the supplier is still locked in and must pay them.
The arbitration process is designed to ensure the wholesaler always wins.
*There has not been a single recorded death from h**p.
Yet Alabama lawmakers want to regulate it more harshly than alcohol and to***co, which kill thousands annually.
This bill wasn’t written for public health—it was written to benefit large corporations at the expense of small businesses. Big Alcohol and Big Medical Cannabis are pushing this legislation to eliminate h**p-derived cannabinoids as competition.
I would be happy to speak with ANYONE further and provide supporting documentation. Please let me know if you’d like to discuss.
Best,
