Our History~
For several yeas in the early 1990's, Lynne Urquahart was a member of a local support group for women who had weight issues. She jokingly nicknamed the group, "Women of Substance". At the same time, Lynne worked in a women's clothing store and noticed that larger women often became frustrated by the lack of stylish, plus-sized fashions; Lynne longed to change that. In 1995, her drea

m to make shopping a joyful experience for grander-sized women became a reality, and her support group's nickname was a natural fit to become the name of her new business. The members of the original Women of Substance group continue to provide steadfast support to Lynne and their namesake shop, which has a loyal and growing customer base from all over the country.
