So I know we said there was going to be more cosplay content comingā we said the same about gaming and the same about art tooā but weāre still sticking with this: the fact that part of activism is transparency. Not everyone is comfortable with that and no one on the internet is entitled to information about you or your health, but thatās what *we* do. šš
Since we made those promises for new things, a lot has happened:
Death of a friend and death in the family first and foremost but we wonāt get into that bit here, weāre gonna focus on health.
Earlier last month, we woke up one day to find that we had lost partial vision in one eye. We went to doctors, got bounced around, discovered it was caused by swelling in our optic nerves but then through a combination of doctors ignoring further concerns and the previously mentioned losses, we had to take a break from focusing on our health.
We then started experiencing vision problems in our other eye. This resulted in a hospital stay, more tests, and side effects from these tests that we are still suffering from (mainly spinal headaches) that may require further intervention.
There are still a lot of questions to be answered.
There is an aside here that at the beginning of the March, before any of this, we had discovered that the pain in our shoulder weāve been ignoring for over a decade was in fact a problem that may require surgery. But of course, our eye sight and ability to be upright for simple tasks comes first. š¤
So whatās the lesson here?
If something is wrong, say something. If youāre worried or in pain or justā¦ offā talk to someone about it. Donāt be afraid to do your own research and donāt be afraid to speak up for yourself.
If you turn out to be a hypochondriac, thatās great! But if not, then youāre one step closer to addressing a problem that could be more serious down the line.
As for our current plans, weāre slowly working on art with lots of breaks but currently unable to sew but are optimistic even with the possibility of surgery and the new need for glasses š
