Traveling with a Firearm on an Airline Legally.
1️⃣ Look at TSA.gov for legal advice and procedures, you can fact check me there.
2️⃣ Let the airline know, they have their own policies and procedures inside of what TSA has. Declare your firearm to them.
3️⃣ Make sure ypur firearm is unloaded and locked inside your gun case, that has at least 2 locks, pad locks, they do not have to be TSA luggage compliant, andnin your checked luggage. Also it is recommended that they aren't TSA Compliant locks, Master Lock Pad Locks do great. No Combination Locks. (TSA cannot inspect your luggage without you in the room or ask for your keys and not have you in the room when the inspection takes place.) Know your rights.
4️⃣ Make sure you gun case is TSA compliant with the proper ability to be locked and have multiple locks on the case. Your gun case also should be stored inside of your checked baggage. It can NOT go inside your carry-on. Saying it again...
5️⃣, No lose ammunition, no ammunition inside of magazines or ammunition clips. Make sure it is in the original manufactures packaging and locked in your gun case properly.
6️⃣, Talk to your airline at check in and get the declaration paperwork. It is easier to do and make sure you are safe and following the procedures than guessing at it.
7️⃣, At the airport aarrive withbmore than enough time before your flight to check your luggae and have the declaration take place.
8️⃣, Travel Smart, don't be an jerk
9️⃣, make sure from your declaration paperwork you have your copies and you watch as they move your luggage to the conveyor.
🔟Travel safe and have a good flight.
1️⃣1️⃣, Upon landing get your luggage and inspect it to make sure your locks are still in place. You can ask a TSA agent or local law enforcement for notice so you don't get uncomfortable..
1️⃣2️⃣, Have fun getting to where your going to shoot..
