Well, he was already a iii mandolin family member, but congrats to Alex Harvey for acquiring the first, but not last, iii Irish Bouzouki ( #75 for this keeping track)! Several prople have said some extremely superlative things about this instrument and I will be making a copy for myself as soon as I can, but more on that later. Photos are forthcoming (do you know Jennifer de Groot? you should!) for closer looks at the finer details. But as of today I am, gladly but buttersweetly, no longer its caretaker. Cheers friends, nor farewell but fare forward!

Gentlefriends, I am pleased to share Mr. .kertzer demoing iii #77 that recently went off to it's new home. I was having the hardest time playing well enough and pulling tone that reflected this instrument's capabilities so I had Brett do a few takes for me while he was in getting some instruments measured. It was very kind of him to do this for me! Please check his page out for mandolin education, he's got a lot of fantastic things to share and is a heck of a player. You can also see him with wherever they are playing. Brett's a super-cool, mega-awesome dude and I hope you enjoy!

This is my neighbor, Rob. He runs Punk Rock Saves Lives and is constantly getting out there adding donors to the bone marrow registry, providing valuable community resources like test strips, narcan, hygeine products, condoms etc. in gatherings and festivals all over the country. I don't know him well but I've seen his heart and I just think if you see him around you should shake his hand, donate, support, whatever. He's a good dude doing the work that needs to be done. I share because I care!

I do not think that mandolins and banjos are natural enemies. I think this is a conspiracy born of tradgrass nimwits and impotent ne'er'do'wells. I'm helping iii #77 learn here about it's future friends, what they sound like, how they mash, how they swoon and roll. Herschel Sizemore's Bounce away is on next, so it can learn more about its own voice... This one goes to its new home tomorrow and I'm excited and already nostalgic for it.

My grandmother gave me this book early as I started building mandolins. I've thumbed through it since then but finally sitting down to read it. Fascinating so far, super dork tour of medieval Europe and varieties of stringed instruments, all the different languages involved too, the scholarship impresses!
