Sometimes making a pillow requires the use of your entire body. Cushions are even harder to stuff!

Velvet is sumptuous and gorgeous and also just about the messiest fabric that there is, and one of the hardest to work with. Especially for the impatient. But this stunning Mark Alexander velvet will be worth it!

Oh, hello! I’m long overdue for an introduction. I’m so much more than the pretty things I make. 😊.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with the nicest older couple and their gorgeous 6th Avenue Tudor home. When we installed the primary bedroom, these cuties were making jokes about getting naked in the front window and putting on a show! They seem to really enjoy each other and have a good time. We should all be so lucky in our 70s!
The dining room got some gorgeous silk drapery just in time for the holiday. My kiddo remarked that it looks like sandstone with the light shining through and I have to agree. And the family room got some handsome and cozy houndstooth, along with a very good boy named Rex who poses for pictures on command. Such a delight all around!

Last week was just about the death of me! In just five days, I made a king size headboard from scratch, 8 panels of interlined, blackout, pinch pleat drapery and fancy pillows. All while the temps ranged from 90°-100° outside. On the hottest days, I had to have my boiler iron on all day long and it was 90° in my shop at night. I worked so long and so hard that when I awoke on Saturday morning, I had a rib slip out of alignment and couldn't breathe without sharp pain. Probably because I only got to pilates once! Oh, and I also ran out of gas while delivering the headboard in my kiddo's car!

Being self-employed in 2025 is intense!!! I sure hope I can still afford healthcare next year because I'm going to need it if this is what it takes!

One of the many reasons for working with a custom home goods maker is that when things don't turn out quite the way that you and your designer anticipate, is that you're not stuck with something that you don't really love. This homeowner wanted a little more privacy without sacrificing too much light. When we originally made these in May they had a lightweight lining and that lining not only made them too opaque but it has a yellow cast once hung in the window. 😖 worked with her lovely client and Fabrikate to remove lining and find a delicate trim to help these lovely café curtains arrive at a very happy place. Happy Fabrikate, happy designer and happy homeowner! Be sure to check out Sarah Foster's work as she is a talented Denver designer who is a delight to work with! https://www.fosterhouseid.com/
