Some of the best access to the river in our town is along this old and discarded railroad track. It’s wild to think how important this stretch of track used to be and how in such a short time is been overgrown with weeds and swallowed by time. At least there is some good trout fishing along this old dusty path. We can appreciate it for the access it provides. And thankful this shoreline hasn’t been taken over by developers and vrbo’s.

It’s that time of year. The bears are fattening up. It’s a little dry this year and I’m sure the berries are minimal up high. So they’re out and about looking for a simple meal. Time to get those trash cans secured. A fed bear is a dead bear….

The good ole double up. There’s something extra special about netting a fish at the some time and your kiddo. The fishing is good for sure, but the memories last a lifetime.

One of my favorite memories of this summer was teaching my littlest how to fly fish. We posted up on a hot lake shore and caught bluegill for hours. A memory that’ll last a lifetime.
These two boys are such a blessing in my world. I grew up with sisters and absolutely love seeing their brotherly love growing from a young age.
I know I’m their dad, which isn’t the same thing….but I feel like the older brother in their crew. I can’t wait to see all of the adventures we will experience in this lifetime.

When I am older I hope the sound of “hey dad look at this” echoes in my mind.

It’s been a tough year as an angler. Some of our favorite spots are drained or dried up and it’s sad to see what used to be.
Whether it’s construction or drought related, we’re trying to make the most of it. Now’s a great time to study the structure for when the shoreline gets back to normal.
Till then we will be praying for rain and snow.
