Kobe Brayant was a huge hero of mine. I followed his career since his prep high school basketball days at Lower Merion HS.

I had the great fortune of watching him play live at both the Pepsi Center and at Madison Square Garden.

Although he was often misunderstood, one thing can never be questioned: his desire to improve and be the absolute best that ever played the game. He wouldn’t even think about taking a night off and must have thought that today’s stars who use “load management” as an excuse to recuperate as soft.

He certainly wasn’t universally beloved, but he was absolutely respected. Who else in modern basketball could score 81 points in a single game, hit 12 threes in a game, win a dunk contest, five championships and two gold medals and speak three languages: English, Italian and Spanish?!?

I personally admired his grit, confidence (some called it arrogance), multilingualism, and his worldly vision. He was an influencer before the term even became common parlance.

The world has truly lost an icon. To lose his young and gifted daughter, Gigi, is such a travesty. May they Rest In Peace.

Duke Kahanamoku was a swimming world record holder (100m free) and five time Olympic medalist (two golds). He also championed the inclusion of surfing in the summer Olympics, which will finally be included in this summer’s Olympic Games

In short, Duke was the was an incredible athlete and all-American badass. Take the time to read his bio.

Reading about his life just made selling this shirt especially tough, as it fits like a glove.

1988-1989 Soccer/Football/Calcio Jersey. The kit manufacturer was NR () and the sponsor was Mars, as in the candy bar.

Diego Maradona, a 5’5” (1.65cm) force of nature, had the best run of his career while playing for Napoli in which he scored 81 goals in 188 appearances with the club.
