I spent an afternoon in the studio of Prune , a plumassier in the south of France. She’s worked with Chanel and other fashion houses. Her work can be found on exhibit around the world. She invited us in like old friends thanks to local host Cynthia Moos — Best French Forever®

I walked away with two of her pieces. One is a sample pattern she explores in her work and often translates onto lampshades. The other is two beetles, every detail handcrafted from peacock feathers.

I also picked up two pieces from a French artist I met at a market who works in line drawings and watercolor.

All four went quickly on my studio wall. A reminder I can look at every day: craft is luxury. In a world of digital everything, you simply cannot replicate something made by hand.

It’s a feeling that hits a little differently when you make things yourself.
