In March 2016, Stephen and Florence Wonbenyakeh started Serve Africa as a Des Moines based non-profit.

The non-profit was initially founded in 2007 by the couple while in Liberia, West Africa. Serve Africaโ€™s mission is to improve the quality of life for orphans, underprivileged children and village pastors who have been affected by years of abject poverty. One major challenge Serve Africa has often faced is a sustainable source of income for its projects and programs. And so in the couple's attempt

to find a solution, they came up with the concept of a retail market, FlorenceLand African Market. Mission
The Mission of FlorenceLand African Market is to become a permanent partner of Serve African in delivering help, hope and opportunities to orphans and poor pastors in Liberia. Core Values
To sell authentic African products that satisfy the need of Africans in the diaspora. Commitment
We donate 25% of profits from all sales to the education and upkeep of orphans, disadvantaged children and poor village pastors. Our customers are our partners. Together we change the world. When you buy from us, you simply empower a child in Africa. Products & Services
We sell a wide variety of African products (made in Africa by African designers), including clothing for men, women, and children; shoes and sandals, hats and necklaces, arts and craft items, beauty supplies, and many more.
