Why are promoting literacy so important?
*Long post alert.
Books have been apart of my life since I was a young girl. I remember my mom walking me and my sisters to the library in the summer every two weeks. We had our library card in hand. 🥰
I remember the big open space when you walked in, the way the library smelled of books, and the brown oak wood shelves… My dream place.
During the school months, my mom always made sure to get me some books when the scholastic book fair came. One month, in fourth grade, my mom didn’t have any money to buy any books (I didn’t know this until I was grown). My teacher called my mom and asked was she purchasing any books because she always did and she didn’t want to submit the forms without my order. Let’s just say, after that conversation, my mom didn’t have to worry about anything and I got my books. ☺️
As a teacher, I know how important our roles are. Because of my teachers, I know that children can either fall In love with you or forever be changed in a negative way by you.
Thank you to all the teachers out there making sure our children get books! You never know where those pages may lead their imaginations.
P.S. I’m an author now and a teacher. How cool is that?! 🙌🏽 Grateful for my journey.
My mom instilled a love of reading in me and I’m so thankful to her for that.
If you made it to this part, thank you for sticking around & reading.
Happy reading, Book Babes! And remember to share a book, share your love for reading, and tell a child that reading is still cool!
