A little life update + something pretty to share 💕

I’m sorry I haven’t had much of a chance lately to read through or respond to comments. Life has been a little crazy behind the scenes, and I feel like I’ve been running in twelve directions at once. 😅 I promise I’m not ignoring anyone, and I really do appreciate every comment, and bit of encouragement.

But in the middle of all the craziness, I’ve still been sneaking away to my doll table whenever I can, so I wanted to share my newest restoration. 💗

This beautiful first-issue Bubblecut Barbie was finished and listed for sale today… and she’s already found her new owner in only 11 minutes! 🥰 There’s something so satisfying about taking a doll that’s been around for more than 60 years, giving her a little love and attention, and seeing her ready for another chapter.

She definitely made me smile today, so I thought I’d share her with you too. 🌹💕

This week has started pretty stressful for me which is why I missed the Monday deadline, but better late than never!

She is actually a 3d printed reproduction, has been carefully repainted and styled in a custom Dancing Doll vintage-inspired ensemble made especially for her, with the goal of keeping that unmistakable mid-century Lilli glamour while giving her a polished, display-ready presentation.

Bild Lilli dolls hold such a fascinating place in fashion doll history, and they’re becoming increasingly difficult to find, especially beautifully presented examples like this one.

I started Ginger’s Doll Cottage over ten years ago because I simply loved bringing these beautiful old dolls back to life. I never imagined that one day 5,000 of you would be here following along with me. 🥹💕

Every like, comment, share, purchase, kind message, and person who has cheered on one of my slightly wild restoration ideas 😄 has helped this little cottage grow.

Some of you have been here for years, and some of you just recently found me, but I am genuinely grateful for each and every one of you.

Thank you for appreciating these dolls, their history, and the new stories I get to create for them. And thank you for giving me a place to share something I love so very much.

Here’s to the next chapter at the Cottage. 🌹✨

✨ It’s time for Throwback Thursday ✨

A little trip back to 2021 today. 💙

This beauty was a reproduction Barbie that I repainted and dressed in my own interpretation of the vintage Easter Parade fashion.

I kept the wonderful tailored silhouette of the original, but gave it my own spin with a muted pastel print of the Apple print sheath, dusty blue taffeta coat and hat, soft pink accessories, and little pearl details. Looking back at her now, I still love how all of those slightly unexpected colors came together.

One of my favorite parts of revisiting older work is seeing the little ideas that were already beginning to shape what would eventually become the Ginger’s Doll Cottage style. 🌹

It’s tiny. It’s bright. And if you’ve ever tried to replace one, you already know just how annoyingly hard these little earrings can be to find. 😂

Another restoration pulled from the Cottage Archives! This blond number 3 ponytail needed some considerable work as you can see. She was lovingly restored, and her dress is actually a OOAK that use the vintage Silk Sheath. The original dress bodice had holes in it so the bodice was replaced with a matching print, and the skirt, collar, and bow were saved.

I suppose it’s time to officially introduce the newest member of Ginger’s Doll Cottage… 😂🌹

Meet Isaiah Kimball, husband, longtime behind-the-scenes helper, occasional enabler of my doll purchases, and now apparently my newest apprentice. 😂

He’s been part of the Doll Cottage for years in one way or another, helping with everything from ideas and projects to tools, supplies, pickups, and all the strange little things that somehow become necessary when your wife restores vintage dolls for a living.

But lately he’s been getting more involved creatively too, especially with some of the miniature and woodworking ideas we have planned for the Cottage. So I’ve decided he has officially earned his apprenticeship. 😌

I’m not sure he realizes what he’s signed up for yet!

There may be tiny furniture in his future.

Possibly tiny staircases.

Definitely roses. 🌹😂

Meet the next patient on the restoration table… one-armed Ken 😂🌹

He may currently look like he lost a very dramatic argument with a lawn mower, but don’t worry, I have spare body parts and he will be getting an arm back. 😆

He’s next on my restoration list, (along with the Color Magic that’s still in the works) and I’m especially excited because it has been ages since I’ve worked on a Ken. I already have his outfit direction picked out too!

For now, though, he’s standing there looking mildly offended that I photographed him before surgery. 😂
