800lbs, that’s 12,800oz!

It may seem like a lot, but this locally made Lemon Verbena Laundry Powder is a customer favorite and we sell over 8,000oz every 6 months. The company recently did a price increase after 7 years of consistent pricing. In an effort to minimize the increase to our customers we pivoted from the 40lb buckets to the 400lb drum!

As with most things these days, our retail price will increase, but we are able to minimize that by ordering from our vendor in such a large quantity. (Added bonus: they shipped to us in a cardboard drum!)

Buy what you need, and rest assured we are fully stocked…..at least for awhile. 😉

From a casual survey we did with our customers, we’ve found that most people dust when they see dust. We see dust and eventually we get out a dusting rag, and sometimes the furniture polish. Yes, dust is unsightly and can make your house look dirty. But did you know there are health and environmental benefits to dusting?

Before we get to that, do you know what dust is? According to ColumbiaDoctors, “Household dust is mostly made up of human skin, hair, microscopic creatures, and dead bugs.” Eewww, gross. And with so many of our household items and clothing being made from synthetic fibers (ex. carpet, sofa foam, sports clothing, etc.), the shedding of microplastics is a real threat to indoor air quality and inevitably those microplastics will settle in dust particles.

Dusting can improve indoor air quality by reducing allergens and eliminating microplastic accumulation. So we offer you this Public Service Announcement: Dust, and dust often. We have multiple dusting cloth options: the E-Cloth High Performance Dusting Cloth, the Marley’s Monsters Washable Duster Head, and soon-to-arrive E-Cloth Dusting Glove.

Simplify Plastic Free July so it doesn’t feel intimidating. Go plastic free for the whole month? What? How? Perhaps PFJ is a misnomer....The real call to action is to use this month to become more aware of where, when, and how plastic shows up in your life and then reduce plastic waste through simple, everyday choices.

Cue the bamboo toothbrush. There’s no denying that a few brands have cornered the market on toothbrushes: flashy colors, promises of erasing stains and fighting plaque, ergonomic handles, and a freebie trial from the dentist. What they don’t tell you is that the handle and all those bristles are made from plastic. Polybutylene Terephthalate to be precise. And all those bright colors? FD&C Blue #1 and Green #3, among others.

What is Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT)? It’s a synthetic thermoplastic polyester, primarily made from the polymerization of two core raw materials: terephthalic acid (or dimethyl terephthalate) and 1,4-butanediol. You should know these base ingredients are derived from petrochemical feedstocks. Simply put, it’s plastic. PBT is plastic made from petrochemicals.

The toothbrushes we sell are made from sustainability-sourced bamboo (handle) and the bristles are from BPA-free, biodegradable plant-based from castor oil. The bristles are soft, yet still tough on plaque. You’ll get a smooth high-quality clean, petrochemical-free.

For the whole month of July we are running a Swap Sale: bring in your one item, drop it in our Swap Bucket, purchase the eco-equivalent and receive 10% off that item! For inspiration and a lists of eligible items swipe through the images of this post.

PSA: line drying your clothes uses less energy, can save you money, and prolongs the life of your garments.

All clothes containing elastene, rayon, polyester, or spandex should always be hung to dry. These fabrics with the high heat from the dryer generates massive amounts of static electricity, not to mention microfiber shedding.

Reduce your energy costs and prolong the life of your clothes by air drying this summer.
