I’ve been thinking about how to put all these feels into words. Coming to the closing of a great book of the last four years of Eight Legged Octopus and Hip Finds in one location. Both sad and exciting times for both of us, a bittersweet expansion.
When I met Lindsey back in the mill we instantly connected for the love of community, fellow small businesses and the fact we were both delirious and optimistic enough to try and open our first brick and mortar shops in the middle of a pandemic. We both had the same mindset which was “community over competition” from the start and feel grateful that we’ve co existed so well.
Over the years I’ve been lucky enough to get to know Lindsey, her love for the environment and the ocean, her kind heart, and her passion to always be learning, taking a stand for what’s right and like the icing on a cake, she has this incredible way with words.
To top it off, she is a super human who wears many hats in both her professional career with the city, educational projects with UNH, and personal life. She is a Wife and supportive Mother to kiddos with active lifestyles. They say to surround yourself with the best, well I truly feel lucky to have shared these last few chapters growing together and sharing a space with a such a humble, genuine and powerful woman. (And I have a feeling she will humbly be shaking her head in disagree while reading this about herself)
While I am all “I’m not crying, you’re crying!” We were yin to the yang and have a great balance in working together. I’m grateful to have shared and tried something new with someone so cool.
Also know that while Lindsey and the Eight Legged Octopus may be closing her side of the brick and mortar, be sure to continue to shop her closing sale in person until Nov. We will continue to look forward to her blog posts and follow along as she continues her hard work to advocate for us, our city and our planet! 🌎 ✨
While the shop may look a little different these next few weeks as we transition and expand, bear with us! We have lots of exciting new products and additions coming to Hip Finds! More updates to come as we progress.
