Did you know bees must consume roughly 8 lbs of honey to produce one pound of beeswax? It’s estimated they that need visit 2 million flowers to make just one pound of honey. Let that sink in for a moment…⁣

I’ve been having so much fun experimenting with beeswax candles. They produce a subtle honey scent, and hold their shape. ⁣
⁣
As a gardener, I plant as much as I can to support our super hero bees and turning their precious wax into candles just feels so special to me. I’m proud source all my beeswax directly from a local honey farm in northern MI. ⁣

Thank you all for your support this past year. Many of you have been here from the very beginning, and for that I am so grateful. ⁣
⁣
For those of you who have recently come along this journey, Sweet Fern started as a quarantine hobby to make gifts for friends and has slowly grown into a small business that brings me so much joy!⁣
⁣
I took a hiatus from creating this year after a move & turning all my focus towards my full-time job. However, I’ve realized how important creating is for my mental health. So this fall I dusted off my box of supplies, invested in building a little studio space, and have loved every minute of getting back into the groove. ⁣
⁣
I even decided to get outside of my comfort zone and sell in person, meeting some of you and seeing my earrings ‘in the wild’ has certainly been a highlight. I cannot wait to see what 2022 brings!!⁣

Something I love most about starting this little biz is the challenge that comes with learning new things. ⁣
⁣
I’ve improved my technique and skills making earrings, but I’ve also learned how to code (minimally). I have so much more to learn but a small win i’m currently celebrating is figuring out how to add a gift wrapping option at check out.⁣
⁣
If you’re shopping for a loved one, you can select the gift option and write your own special message. I’ll wrap it up with a bow- and it will be ready to stuff in a stocking or put under the tree!
