In 1937 DuPont lobbied the government to pass the Ma*****na Tax right after they patented their new synthetic fiber, Nylon. The bill was disguised in a way that made it seem like it wasn’t actually banning h**p, it just required farmers to acquire a tax stamp in order to grow it . However, the tax was incredibly expensive for the time and came with a list of restrictions that made growing h**p so impractical that farmers moved on to other cash crops. It was a ban in everything but name. In 2018 the Farm Bill was signed lifting those restrictions and allowing farmers to freely grow h**p and allowing companies to utilize the amazing properties of this plant. That’s when UndrDog stepped on the scene, creating the world’s strongest shirt from a blend of h**p and polyester. We then discovered the research behind what synthetic fibers were doing to our bodies and the planet. So we shut down for an entire year and spent $300,000 to develop our own patent fiber blend called Duraflow. Made from 51% h**p, 31% bamboo, and 18% organic cotton. In 1975 a researcher in Florida finds a fluorine compound in human blood samples. Blood that should’ve been clean.

3M runs their own animal study. Their scientists write it’s “certainly more toxic than anticipated.”
Their official conclusion? No evidence of ill effects.

30% of clothing made is never sold, half of that ends up in a landfill. That’s roughly one garbage truck of new unsold clothing being dumped into the landfill EVERY SECOND. The worst part? Most of that clothing contains polyester, which is plastic. So it’s not breaking down and decomposing, it’s sitting there for 200 years shedding microplastics into the Earth.

I worked at a funeral home for years and the smell of embalming fluid is something that sticks with me. I can pin point that smell from a mile away and I pray I never have to smell it again. So when I found out polyester garments were treated with the same chemical compound, I was appalled. A Florida Man recreated the concept of Henry Fords H**p car. He took a Mazda Miata Chassis and replaced the old steel body panels with panels made from a h**p based bio composite. Not only was his car lighter than the original, it was much more impact resistant thanks to the incredibly high tensile strength of h**p fiber. The car also ran on h**p based biodiesel. In 1937 2 billionaires, one bureaucrat, and a chemical company teamed up to get Earths strongest natural fiber banned. They used propaganda, racism, and fear to demonize the plant. William Randolph Hearst ran the smear campaigns in his newspapers, Andrew Melon used his wealth to lobby the government and appoint his own nephew to the newly formed federal bureau of narcotics, and Harry Anslinger(Melons nephew) testified in front of congress promoting their racist talking points. DuPont sat quietly behind the scenes backing all of them with billions in order to keep the campaign going. In 1937 the Ma*****na Tax Act was passed and overnight the plant was gone.
