🌧️ Day #7,856 of rain.

At this point, I’m convinced the universe knows I have s**t to do and is taking it personally. 🤦‍♀️

Two sheds packed full. A patio full of totes, a storage unit rental.. Not to mention my house my garage my basement… 😭 Approximately 47 years’ worth of stuff to sort through, photograph, list, sell, and somehow organize…

Universe: Absolutely not, bitch. Here’s some more rain. 🌧️

I’m taking bets now that we’ll have our first blizzard sometime in September. Because God forbid I get three consecutive days of decent weather and actually accomplish a damn thing. 😂

So if you’re waiting for yard sale dates, new listings, or wondering whether I’ve disappeared into one of the sheds and been buried alive by vintage home decor — I’m still here.

Just waiting for Mother Nature to get her s**t together. 😑🌧️😂

Two years ago, these two sweet girls came to us from a major hoarding case in Olean involving more than 70 cats. Both were pregnant when they were rescued. 💔🐾

Now look at them. ❤️

For the past two years, they’ve known full bellies, warm beds, safety, love, and apparently the belief that this little loveseat belongs entirely to them. 😂

This is what rescue can look like.

Behind every animal sitting in a shelter or foster home is a story we may never fully know. Some have been neglected. Some abandoned. Some have never known what it feels like to be safe.

And sometimes, all it takes is one person saying, “You can come home with me.”

Please, when you’re ready to add an animal to your family, ADOPT. Check your local shelters and rescues. Give the scared one a chance. Give the older one a chance. Give the one everyone keeps walking past a chance.

Adopt. Save a life. ❤️🐾

You may think you’re rescuing them, but somehow they have a way of rescuing a little piece of us, too. 🐱❤️

🚨 TODAY’S EPISODE OF: THINGS I ALMOST FORGOT HAPPENED AT THE STORE 🚨

Now that the store is officially closed, apparently my brain has decided it’s safe to start unlocking some of the memories I had buried for my own sanity. 😂

Today’s throwback: the consigner who thought I was rude.

Let’s revisit why, shall we?

👉 I asked TEN TIMES for photos of what she wanted to consign. TEN. Not once. Not twice. TEN TIMES. Never got them.

👉 Instead, she showed up ON OUR DAY OFF expecting us to stand there and inventory everything together.

👉 I was then informed that she had all kinds of “treasures” worth a fortune.

Narrator: They were not worth a fortune.

In fact, some of these priceless treasures arrived broken.

And some came with a little something extra that absolutely nobody asked for…

🐀 Rat p**s and rat s**t.

Yes. You read that correctly.

And somehow, after all of this, I was the rude one. 😂

Listen, maybe my customer-service sparkle dimmed a little when I realized I was standing there on my DAY OFF examining someone’s rodent-contaminated family fortune. I’m only human.

This is exactly why I keep saying I could write a damn book about owning that store. You could not MAKE UP half the s**t that happened in there.

And somewhere out there, I’m probably still the villain in this story.

I can live with that. 😂💀

Stay tuned. Apparently my brain has an entire vault of these stories it’s ready to reopen.

I swear, every single time I start thinking maybe I’m too cynical and I should have a little more faith in people, life comes along and says, “Nope. Sit your ass back down.” 🙄

I am so unbelievably sick of being screwed over.

I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. I try to be patient. I try to understand that s**t happens, people get busy, things take longer than expected, and life doesn’t always go according to plan.

But there comes a point where patience starts feeling a whole lot like being taken advantage of.

And THAT is where I’m at.

No names. No details. No public dragging. At least not today. 😂 But soon if something doesn’t change.

Just sitting here wondering why basic things like communication, honesty, and doing what you said you were going to do have apparently become unreasonable expectations.

This is exactly why I have less and less faith in people.

Every damn time I give someone the benefit of the doubt, I end up wishing I hadn’t.

Anyway… stay tuned. Because apparently my life needed another fu***ng storyline. 🤦‍♀️

I SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO SHOP MY OWN SHEDS. 😂🤦‍♀️

Seriously. This is becoming a problem.

I closed a vintage home decor store, packed everything into sheds and storage, and somehow my brain has decided that means I now have my own PERSONAL HOME DECOR SHOP conveniently located in my backyard.

Every tote I open:

“Ooooooh, I forgot I had this.”

“That would look AMAZING in my bedroom.”

“I definitely need this.”

“Oh s**t, I have TWO of these?!”

Meanwhile, my bedroom is slowly turning into a booth at an antique mall. 😂

At this rate, I’m not going to need a bigger bedroom.

I’m going to need a bigger HOUSE.

And before anyone says, “Joanna, you’re supposed to be SELLING this stuff…”

Mind your business. 😂😂😂

I spent years buying cool s**t for everybody else. Apparently now it’s MY TURN.

The sheds are dangerous.

Someone take away my shopping privileges.

Actually, don’t. I just remembered there’s another shed I haven’t gone through yet. 😬😂

08/25/2026

Ya know what’s actually pretty damn cool about closing down a vintage home décor store?

When you suddenly decide you’re sick of looking at your own house, you don’t have to go shopping. 😂

You just walk out to one of your storage sheds and go, “Hmmmm… what personality are we giving this room today?”

New lamps? Got ’em.
Artwork? Approximately 47 million pieces.
Random vintage s**t I completely forgot I owned? Obviously.
Enough décor to redecorate the entire house without spending a dime? ABSOLUTELY.

There are some perks to having an ungodly amount of inventory packed into your yard. 😂

And because apparently I don’t already have enough projects, I have now decided that I NEED an aquarium in my bedroom.

Not want.

NEED.

So… anyone local have one they want to sell? I’m looking for an entire setup — tank, stand, filter, light, all the goodies. Preferably something decent-sized because we all know I’m incapable of doing anything small or reasonable.

Because clearly what my life is missing right now is another living thing that requires my attention. 🤦‍♀️😂

But damn it, I want to fall asleep watching fish.

Whatcha got, Dunkirk/Fredonia/Western NY people? 👀🐠

Well, this one hurts. 💔

There are celebrities you enjoy. There are celebrities you admire.

And then there was Dolly Parton.

One of those incredibly rare human beings who somehow seemed to belong to all of us.

Dolly Parton passed away today at 80 years old, and I genuinely cannot think of many people who have left this world a better place simply because they were in it.

Yes, she was an absolute legend in music. She wrote songs that will still be played long after all of us are gone. She was funny, beautiful, talented, smart as hell and one hell of a businesswoman.

But honestly, that’s not even what made Dolly so special.

It was her heart.

This woman came from practically nothing and became one of the most recognizable people on the planet — and then spent her life giving back.

She gave millions of children books through her Imagination Library.

She helped families after disasters.

She supported education, healthcare and communities that needed help.

She quietly gave away millions of dollars without needing a parade every damn time she did it.

And somehow, through decades of fame, money and success, she never seemed to forget where she came from.

She could laugh at herself. She could make other people laugh. She never pretended to be something she wasn’t.

In a world where famous people can become famous simply for being famous, Dolly Parton had actual talent, intelligence, compassion and substance.

And maybe that’s why this one feels different.

She wasn’t just a country singer.

She wasn’t just Dolly Parton the celebrity.

She was one of those people who made you believe there really are genuinely GOOD human beings in this world.

The rhinestones, the big hair, the incredible voice and that unmistakable laugh will always be part of her legacy.

But I think the millions of people whose lives were made a little better because Dolly Parton existed may be the greatest legacy of all.

Rest easy, Miss Dolly. ❤️

The world just got a little less sparkly today.

Someone please explain thrift store pricing to me because apparently I missed a fu***ng meeting. 😂

I found this adorable 3.5-foot Christmas Corgi inflatable today.

The Home Depot sticker is STILL ON THE BOX.

Home Depot price: $22.98

Home Depot clearance price: $20.67

Thrift store price:

✨ $24.99 ✨

😂😂😂😂

WHAT ARE WE DOING HERE?!

They didn’t even have the decency to peel off the evidence before deciding it had somehow APPRECIATED IN VALUE.

This isn’t a rare antique.

It’s not vintage.

It’s not a discontinued collectible hand-crafted by Santa’s elves in 1973.

It’s a goddamn inflatable corgi from HOME DEPOT.

And it’s USED.

Apparently this little bastard left Home Depot, went out into the world, lived a whole previous life, got donated FOR FREE, landed in a thrift store and somehow increased in value.

That’s not thrifting.

That’s an INVESTMENT PORTFOLIO. 😂

And before somebody comes along with the usual “Well, thrift stores have expenses too…”

Yes. I know.

I owned a store.

I understand overhead.

I also understand that when the ORIGINAL RETAILER’S CLEARANCE PRICE IS STILL STUCK TO THE BOX, perhaps $4 MORE THAN THAT PRICE isn’t the bargain of the century.

At the absolute bare minimum, PEEL THE DAMN STICKER OFF before you insult me. 🤣

I swear thrift stores used to be where you went to find cool s**t cheap.

Now apparently we’re financing the previous adventures of a secondhand Christmas corgi.

Hard pass.

Another day, another raindrop. 🌧️

Or, in our case, another damn monsoon. 🤦‍♀️😂

At this rate, I’m estimating I’ll have everything sorted, organized, photographed and ready to sell sometime around August of 2047.

Every time I think, “Okay, THIS is the week I’m finally going to start making some serious progress,” Mother Nature apparently hears me and says:

Absolutely the hell not.

So here we are. More rain. More totes. More stuff waiting to be gone through. And me staring out the window wondering when Western New York decided that late August should feel like late October. 🙄

As soon as I can actually start digging through everything without needing a raincoat and a small boat, I’ll update everyone about when we’re having the yard sale.

I’ll also be posting some of the larger items right here on the page as I uncover them, so keep watching. 👀

And REMEMBER — just because the physical store is gone doesn’t mean you have to be local!

📦 WE WILL SHIP!

If we post something you want, just ask. As long as it isn’t something ridiculous like a couch, dresser, refrigerator, or a 400-pound piece of furniture, we can probably figure out how to get it to you. 😂

For now, I’ll just be over here drinking coffee, watching the rain, and pretending those mountains of totes are somebody else’s problem.

Another incredibly productive day at Thrifted, Gifted & Slightly Twisted. 🤦‍♀️😂
