Jerry Clay,56, of Ridgely, died Saturday, August 15, 2026, at his residence. Born March 28, 1970, in Hayti, MO, he is the son of Louise Clay Clark and the late George Washington Clay.

Jerry retired as an Engineer Supervisor with the Railroad after a long and dedicated career. A Baptist by faith, he proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a former member of the Lake County Rescue Squad.

Jerry enjoyed caring for his lawn maintenance service and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially loved being involved in the lives of his grandchildren, coaching them in sports and, as they would say, sometimes even coaching the coaches! His greatest joy, however, was his family. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he was affectionately known as “Pa.”

Jerry never met a stranger and was a friend to all who knew him. He was the kind of person who would go above and beyond to help anyone in need, always willing to lend a hand and expecting nothing in return. His generosity, kindness, and love for his family will leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2026, in the Ridgely Chapel of Curry Funeral Home officiated by Reverend Chuck Graham with interment to follow in New Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 18th from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Ridgely Chapel of Curry Funeral Home.

Matt Deason, Chris Runions, Brandon Runions, Mike Bates, Jerry B. Hampton, Roger Belt, T.J. Hoekstra and Blayze Burg will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Lake County Rescue Squad.

He is survived by wife, Kathy Clay; two daughters, Shayna Ammons (Matt) of Dyersburg, Hope Rogers (Chase) of Portageville, MO; his mother and step-father, Louise Clay Clark (Ray) of Braggadocio, MO; his brother Terry Clay (Deronda) of Florence, SC; and six grandchildren, Blayze Burg, Mason Ammons, Cambri Cruce, Milly Rogers, Kinslee Rogers and Cooper Rogers.

The family requests memorials be directed to the Lake County Rescue Squad.

Elizabeth Peevyhouse, 79, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, August 13, 2026, at her residence. She was born April 21, 1947, to the late Charley and Zazzle Washam. She was a long-time employee of Colonial Rubber and the Tennessee Department of Corrections. She was a member of Fort Hudson Baptist Church.

She is survived by her three sons, Joe House, Kenny House and Tracy Strawn; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a daughter by choice, Paulette Talbot.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charley Washam and David Washam.

Harry “Edmond” Sorrell (“Daddy Ed”) was born on November 19, 1940 and passed away peacefully August 11, 2026.

Edmond was preceded in death by his parents Harry Cotton Sorrell and Willie Mai Sorrell, sister Shirley McGlaughlin, and son Frankie Borden. He is survived by wife Marcia Sorrell of 20 years; daughters Stefanie Stover (Greg) and Andra Dickey (Hal); grandchildren: Harrison Stover (Gracie), Hayden Stover (Jenna), Natalie Finnell (Jason), Ashley Miller (Jameson), and Rachel Asquith (Steven); step-son Jeff Givens (Carol); step-grandchildren Jacob Givens, Sam Givens, and Zach Givens; and many great-grandchildren.

Edmond grew up in the Sorrell’s Chapel community in Dyersburg, TN and graduated from Dyersburg High School in 1958. A devoted farmer throughout much of his life, he grew corn, cotton, soybeans, and wheat and was a strong advocate for progress in agriculture. His dedication to the farming industry even took him to Washington DC in 1979, where he lobbied for the interests and future of farmers as part of the America Agriculture Movement.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, completing four months of active duty training and continuing his service as a member of the Air Force Reserve. He also worked for the Tennessee Public Service Commission for many years and concluded his career with 15+ years at the Tennessee Trucking Association, serving as the Director of Safety.

He loved working in his yard and took great pride in having what he considered the best Bermuda grass in the neighborhood, much to the envy of his neighbors. He enjoyed playing and watching golf and passed his love of the game on to his family. Above all, he was a hardworking and caring man who took great pride in his work, liked to joke around, and loved and supported his family.

Visitation will be Wednesday August 19th 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel Murfreesboro, TN with services to follow. A private burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg, TN, at a later date.
