We have been receiving an increased number of questions from residents about the recent sightings of a spotted lanternfly (SLF) in our community. Here’s what you need to know:

▶ SLF is an invasive nuisance pest that can threaten certain agricultural plants.

▶ SLF does NOT bite, sting or carry diseases.

▶ SLF does NOT kill every tree it feeds on. While SLF can stress and damage its host plants, most healthy, established trees can withstand some feeding.

What should you do if you see a spotted lanternfly?

▶ Kill the insect to help slow its spread.

▶ Report your sighting to the State of Connecticut: survey123.arcgis.com/share/cd88aecff65948e795bac5f34e1b66d2

▶ Learn how to identify and manage SLF: portal.ct.gov/caes/plants-pest-info/spotted-lanternfly?language=en_US

Help us slow the spread by knowing what to look for and reporting sightings.
