Current stress level: him. 😂

Meanwhile, Mom and crew are in the garage busting out a large custom shirt order in 90-degree heat, running on caffeine, chaos, and the dream of someday not turning the garage into a full-blown production facility.

He’s unbothered. Relaxed. Living his best life.

Me? I’m somewhere between:
“Look at us building something amazing”
and
“Does anyone know of a commercial space available… or a good divorce attorney… or a new production team?” 😅

All jokes aside, I’m so grateful for the orders, the help, and the little reminders that this whole crazy thing is being built with love, sweat, and a whole lot of family energy.

Leadership does not punch a clock.

Sometimes, it looks like loading up a cart with popsicles and walking the plant floor with your kid beside you — even at midnight.

It was hot. The team was working hard. And after a long day, a cold treat was a simple way to remind people that their effort was seen and appreciated.

But this moment meant a little more.

This was also a thank-you to a team that stepped up and covered first and second shift so I could focus on a major project. They carried the day, kept the operation moving, and showed exactly what teamwork looks like when it matters most.

And it was a chance to teach my son that leadership is not just about meetings, titles, or big decisions. It is about paying attention. It is appreciating the people who step in when you need them. It is showing up for your team, even when it is late, inconvenient, or no one is watching.

Taking care of people is never “extra.” It is part of the job.

Because leadership is not just something we talk about.

Leadership is lived. Even at midnight. ❤️

Leadership is lived — especially when the moment is heavy.

Our Monday did not start the way we expected.

Before the meetings, the deadlines and the big presentation waiting for us this afternoon, there was a moment when someone needed a leader to show up with a steady voice and a level head.

A young officer in our county was navigating a difficult situation involving an employee and some serious allegations. I asked them to give me a moment to reach him directly. I believed that, with the right conversation, he would take accountability and do the right thing.

The conversation was not easy.

We talked about fear.
We talked about owning our actions.
We talked about accountability and what it means to face the next step, even when it is scary.

And he made the decision to turn himself in.

Right before we hung up the phone, he told me he loved me. I reminded him that I loved him too. I told him that he needed to get through this, take responsibility for what comes next and know that there would be people waiting for him on the other side.

Leading with empathy does not mean excusing someone’s actions. It does not mean lowering the standard or shielding someone from accountability.

Sometimes, it means caring enough to help someone face the consequences of their choices with honesty and dignity.

Leadership can feel heavy because you carry the weight of understanding that people are more than their worst moments. When warranted, you help provide a path forward and a soft landing upon their return — not without accountability, but with humanity.

We still have a full day ahead of us. The presentation still needs to happen. The work is still waiting.

But this morning, we had the opportunity to remind someone that they are loved while encouraging them to do the right thing.

That mattered too.

Leadership is lived in all situations — especially the ones no one prepares you for.

Sometimes leadership is not a title, a meeting, or a big strategic decision.

Sometimes leadership is hearing that a young lady wanted something special for an important day, knowing the request came in at the last minute, and finding a way to make it happen anyway. 💗

We were honored to donate these shirts so her crew could show up together and help make her celebration feel even more memorable.

Because the moments that matter most rarely happen in the boardroom.

They happen when we notice a need.
When we use what we have.
When we step in without making it complicated.
When we help someone feel seen, celebrated, and supported.

That is what we mean when we say:

Leadership is lived.

And judging by these smiles, I think this group understood the assignment. 🤠✨
