Taking it back to 2014 when was still a thing. Somehow, some way, is 🔟 years old! If you just recently started following us, you may not know that this whole crazy operation here at The Getalong started with a tiny but mighty web + pop-up shop. We had all the inventory stored in our house, wrapped and packaged everything in a tight makeshift office, and ran it all from a trusty MacBook (RIP, she went hard in the paint).
When our brilliant and intrepid web designer switched us on live February 28, 2014, we were super nervous and excited. The first orders to come in were a total thrill (thank you sweet friends and family! ☺️). There were, of course, many slow days and figuring out the e-comm game was and still is a moving target. We grew slowly. And grew our family 🌈👼👼! Eventually we started shipping all over the country and then Europe and beyond—we became very good friends with our clutch and supportive mail carriers 🤝 At the same time we ran ALL over town doing pop-ups at events like , free local deliveries, and then eventually mini residencies ( • • ). We also co-founded a group called , with two Chattanooga maker friends. A month-long residency at ’s Singalong Shop is what eventually led us to committing to brick and mortar and landing us here in this wonderful shop alongside a long roster of amazing local makers and vendors who you know and love!
Eternal gratitude to all you early believers and real ones—whose little loves are now also around 10 years old 😱🥹 —and everyone who continues to support and shop small and local 🫶🏼
