I’ve wanted to share what life is really like raising a special needs child and now the new diagnosis of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) as a 17 yr old.

📌The endless phone calls that lead no where.
📌The services that don’t exist in MA but should.
📌The systems that leave families falling through the cracks - it’s not just our family.
📌The victories that come after countless setbacks - celebrate the small things.
📌The heartbreak, resilience, and hope that keep us moving forward - when you feel like you have nothing left to fight with.

Until now, I’ve been careful about what I shared publicly. Our family’s story is deeply personal, and protecting Michael has always come first as well as the few services we have in place and those we are desperately seeking.

That’s why I created Falling Through the Cracks: FASD in Massachusetts on Substack.

💔 FALLING THROUGH THE CRACKS: FASD in Massachusetts

For years, I’ve shared pieces of our journey here and there. The victories. The heartbreaks. The endless battles to access services, support, and now learning that we are dealing with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).

I’ve often wanted to share more, but doing so publicly comes with risks for families like ours.

That’s why I’ve created a private, subscriber-only space.

This choice is intentional—to protect our family, protect our child, and ensure that sharing our truth does not negatively impact our ability to access services and supports.

This isn’t a space for gossip or sensational stories. It’s a place for honesty, advocacy, education, and connection. A place to talk about what happens when families are left to navigate systems that weren’t built to meet their needs, especially those in Western MA.

If you’ve supported our family, followed our journey, work in the field, love someone affected by FASD, or simply want to better understand the realities families face, I’d be honored to have you join us.
