In honor of Mother's Day this weekend, we are sharing a few images of the fashionable moms in my growing up. Their legacies of fashion and sewing and s***k define me as well as how I do what I do at Endres Studios. My paternal grandmother Nora was a seamstress in her own right, and always had a project going when we were together. Here she is in 1964, holding me in her arms, with my sister Trudy alongside, so put together. She made what we are wearing, pale gold wool jackets with green velvet collars and green velvet hats. Here in her stylish sunglasses is my maternal grandmother Alice. She was a friend to all in her the tiny village of East Vassalboro, Maine, and I like to think I have a bit of her friendliness and her s***k.
My mom, Jane is dressed for a drive, circa 1962, with my sister Trudy. And she knew how to dress for prom as well, seen on the far right with yellow sash and matching shoes.
My beautiful mom in her off the shoulder gown looks like a starlet in her graduation picture. And these two fashionable couples were guests at my parents 1961 wedding. On the left in white gloves is Betty, wife to my maternal grandfather Robert beside her, and we have Nora again, this time in a fur collared coat, with Grandpa Charlie beside her.
Wishing every mom a relaxing day this Sunday, and a few fashionable reflections of your own as well!
