My Pet Peeve! I’m an animal lover, I’ve had pets all my life! I love my pets (dogs and cats and others). My pets don’t come with me to work or Walmart and Smiths or any other public place! I have depression and anxiety! But it is so much more anxiety for me to take them shopping with me! If you think your uncertified pet wants to go with you, you are mistaken! New Mexico State law allows only trained animals who comply with Federal ADA laws to be admitted to commercial establishments! These are trained service animals! They know how to behave and they don’t have to be put in the shopping cart. And they don’t defecate in your food service establishment! Our business may loose customers because of this post but I don’t care. I allowed a customer to bring her (assistance animal) into my business Saturday because she insisted that her dogs were not only trained ADA service animal but she affirmed that they were professional trained, and yet this highly trained animal fouled my establishment while I had customers! If you need emotional support from your pet I applaud you, love them, hug them, kiss them, but do it at home. If you require ADA animal assistance and wish to patronize my establishment, please make sure that it is trained to be in public especially potty trained! It is your responsibility to not only to comply with existing law but to make sure your service animal does not cause an environmental risk!
