Frida has long been an inspiration to me. She was the first Mexican role model I had (outside of family). She was this rebel, this human that I felt gave me permission to be myself unapologetically. I thought there could be no better image than hers to be La Empresa, or The Empress, in my tarot deck. She birthed creativity, art, expression as if it was her child. She healed herself through her art. She did not shy away from sharing her wounds with others. In being so open, she has created this safe space for people to recognize their own wounds and find healing as well. .

“Nothing Amazing”
FLCL is one of those series that takes me all the way back to middle school, staying up later than I was supposed to, just so I can hopefully catch some big kid anime. The series left such a huge emotional impact on me it’s always been arguably my favorite of all. The music, the characters, the symbolism, the coming of age themes touched the inner emo, artist, weeb in me.
I’m happy to see the world becoming more open minded to how influential the art form can truly be.
